Wybers Wood Great Coates Not Grimsby
Location, Location, Location !
As estate agents and house values tell us, the above is everything. If my house was in Kensington it would be worth millions - but it’s not and it it isn’t
However…..
Wybers Wood is not part of Grimsby. Despite my postal address, I live in Great Coates according to the Domesday Book. Clearly this hugely important historical work is of greater importance than anything the postal system or a couple of half-witted communist councillors might come up with centuries after the fact.
The North South Divide - Lincolnshire is in the South !
Whilst we are on this subject there is something else which can also be clarified here.
I know several people who live further down south than myself and they have the delusional idea that I Live Up North.
They seem to have it in their heads that North starts at the Watford Gap !
Well, I am pleased to be able to confirm and prove my long held assertion that I live down south by quoting none other than The Venerable Bede, a man not to be argued with.
In his magnum opus Historia Ecclesiastica, published in AD 731, he clearly states that the north south divide is the River Humber. Those above it are Northerners and those below Southerners.
Whilst I have not read the whole of Historia Ecclesiastica I feel confident in assuming there is no reference to he Watford Gap Service Station !
So there we have it
Wybers Wood is in Great Coates
Lincolnshire is down south
Did I just double the value of my house ?

Rod,
‘Did I just double the value of my house?’
I’ve been in your house so that would be no.

I’m gutted, I was hoping in doubling it’s value it may be worth what I paid for it !

With Wybers Wood being connected to Grimsby and before anyone starts banging on about fish, chips and mushy peas etc you may be interested in this !

OMITK,
What should the average sophisticated witch about town be paying for a decent carving knife?
Do head chefs give dinner parties at home and do they attend others?
Much more interesting than Rod’s house value!

WoE,
I’m afraid you will not get much change out of fifty to seventy big ones for a decent carver.
I have held the occasional culinary soiree at my humble abode. It’s usually very simple fayre in the terroir style, I don’t go in for impressing friends with the sort of food that I cook every day of the week-frankly, I want it like a hole in the head.
As for attending dinner parties, sadly not and rarely will unless 98% of the population decree Mondays to be the new Saturday for entertaining.
Yours in culinary martydom

not so much the village but fields nearby, there is a railway line that passes by so a good location in my opinion, others seem less impressed.
Thankfully it affects me neither way

Ever Seen the Grimsby Growler “.
A few sightings of this Beast which has been described as a large black Cat,
have been made over the years in the Great Coates & Wybers Wood area.
Though some say it may be a large stray dog, members of the public have seen and described a large black Cat.
Does it Exist ! …… if so How did it get there …. How does it Survive ?
Has Anyone Reading this Ever Seen it ?

ARB,
Grimsby is noted for its growler population and over the years the Collins boys have made extensive research into their feeding habits. The last sighting I had of a Grimsby growler it did indeed appear to be similar to a large black cat.
Big Brother used to regale me with tales of catching a very large one in the local town hall, stuff of legend.

Ever Seen the Grimsby Growler?
I’ve seen quite a few growlers in Grimsby.
Just found this about the sightings
This is the first I’ve ever heard of it. I walk around some of the areas the Grimsby Growler has been seen - no doubt if the big cat exists it will attack me at some point.
How come I didn’t know about this suspected Big Cat sighting ?
I may go out on an expedition tomorrow !

Pleased you found the Growler of interest,
it sounds like one of those old Circus stories,
.S …. The Panthers Gone - Quick to the Next Town Boys !
Rod - the new book should have a page titled what to do with a Big Cat
should it not grab a copy of
The Training of Wild Animals by Frank C.Bostock.

I once worked for a Circus, as such I can confirm
If it Growls at you …. “Leave it Alone !
and don’t poke or prod it with a stick either.

ARB,
This reminds me of a true story..back in about 1991/92 on a particularly foggy night a large cat (tiger or leopard, can’t remember which) escaped from the visiting zoo and ran amock in Grimsby. Everyone was terrified and I remember being stuck in a pub for fear of being attacked by the savage beast. All the taxis were booked so I had to walk home, I decided to ram as much beer down my neck as possible to suppress the fear inside. Not exactly Tarzan I Know.

Sounds like they never caught it ,
Hence the Grimsby Growler.
Many years ago a Circus owner who at the time had two very old just about toothless very tame Lions in his Circus, staged a fake escape of the Beasts in whichever town he was in at the time to get some publicity.

Ray Mears would know how to deal with a situation like this. He strikes us as a huge man-points earning male …. better do some research on how to make a quick flint arrow before you leave the house.

p.s. is the Transglobal boot any good when it comes to big game hunting?

Ray Mears has a huge stack of man points - he gets quite a few for being on one of the only TV programmes I watch, never mind all his other manly activities.
He’s a top man !
The Henri Lloyd Transglobals are ideally suited to this kind of work, one of the many reasons I purchased them - think ahead and be prepared. How wise of you to remember !
I need not make a flint arrow as I always leave the house with a loaded weapon, though it no longer gets unsheathed as often as it did
For those unaware more info on man points can be found below

Survival in a professional kitchen ranks as high as RM …..mechete or carving knife, either way where does that leave Rod? Be prepared to bail him out after the locals catch him rampaging about with a loaded weapon!
