Wrawby Church a Look at St Mary’s church in Lincolnshire
St Mary’s church in Wrawby is in the north of Lincolnshire alongside the historic market town of Brigg.
If you’re coming from a southerly direction then it’s a glorious route along the A1084 - classic Lincolnshire territory
I mention the route as it took me through some delightful little Lincs villages finally bringing me to the historically rare and important Wrawby Windmill and its beautiful church.
Although it was almost entirely rebuilt in 1800 the work has been done sympathetically and the the tower and belfry are still original 13th century.
Some of the internal arcade dates back to the late13th century with a 14th century Jacobean font.
The Tyrwhit family once again come to the fore with a monumental tomb, 1548, of Sir Robert Tyrwhitt, the monumental brasses are now sadly missing. Their disappearance clearly goes back a bit as their absence is noted by Thomas Allen in 1834.
The parish registers date back to 1675 although some even earlier were lost to fire around 1713 I believe

St Mary’s Church Wrawby
There is a notable lack of information about this church and as such I should very much like to redress the situation, if at all possible.
If you know anything of the history of this site then sharing it in a comment would really be appreciated. My researches have, as you can see, turned up very little initially.
If you can help with any information at all I should be extremely grateful as I’m sure will all those who subsequently see this.
All the best
Rod
