Why is Doing Nothing So Tiring ?

Having to keep the weight off my foot for the last few days has sorely tested the Goldeneye Mettle
I was hoping for a Rear Window situation which may also serve to stimulate my literary ambitions - well we can only hope I guess

Staring out of the window proved fruitless in terms or murder mysteries or indeed lesser stratagems and spoils. Actually that’s not entirely true !
I did revisit an age old mystery - where is the car magnet located that draws cars to park exactly opposite my driveway irrespective of where the car lives or the moron driving it is visiting ?
The street can be devoid of all vehicles bar one and that one is guaranteed to be parked directly opposite my drive

Anyhoo I digress, back to the real point, why am I exhausted ?
My total output today can be boiled down to a short walk, drinking tea and, in an effort to improve my mind, I read Put Out More Flags by Evelyn Waugh from cover to cover.
Unfortunately it did not improve my mind but this is no reflection on the author or his efforts.
My mind is closed to improvement !
Some time ago I decided I knew enough to get by and any more knowledge would prove dangerous or simply confusing so I pulled up the drawbridge to education and bolted the door to intellectual improvement !

This could have been premature and ultimately costly - Waugh caused me to pick up a dictionary twice ! Unusual for me when reading fiction.
If you’ve not tried Waugh then you really should - he’s a master of prose and caused stirrings in my literary loins ! The author in me will out one day .

This weekend will see me out and about again - inactivity is far from restful - positively exhausting.
I can also concur with those who claim exercise is a cure of depression and misery.
I’m used to getting plenty (exercise that is ;) ) so perhaps miss it more than most but inactivity really drags you down.

With my recovery so near I feel I ought to thank the following who contributed toward my record recovery time. In no particular order

Evelyn Waugh
Francis Beeding
PG Wodehouse
PG Tips
LB’s dried chillies
The 4 people who left a comment wishing me well
An exceptionally fine pie
Arnica
Claret
The Bart Simpson Fleece Blanket (not to be confused with Lectus El Barto )

Enjoy the weekend wherever you are

    Rod,
You’ve got a car parked outside your window-I’ve got a fast flowing river. Beautiful during the day, annoying at 5am. We all have our crosses to bear!
    Get better soon.

    LB
sounds like a tough life for you
The cars park in front of the drive not the window which at times can make backing out a little vexatious
    Cheers

    Rod,
re LB Jeffries-It’s ironic that another actor in the film would go on to play Ironside-now put those binoculars down!!

    Rod,

Our very own blackened toe inmate is coming along in leaps and bounds… well perhaps not quite, but certainly limps and blunders, milking it for all it’s worth we might add… so different to your good self :) Today, under the guidance of our learned physician, we set out to find the ultimate slipper to take on the job of survival within the confines of the ancient Coven HQ. Our fear is that the patient is more likely to trip over them in the hall in an effort to reach the tv controller first and other such noble occupations :)

Have you turned into a curtain twitcher? Since you are concerned about the vista, we are seriously thinking about adapting one of our latest inventions which will fit neatly inside your window…. it’s a back lit (we don’t want any shadows of your elevated foot interrupting the ambiance :) ), full screen Costa Blanca beachscape complete with soothing wave music and cheerful chatter of British holiday makers at play. You’ll soon want to get it upgraded to our delux Cleethorpes wild and windy experience from the comfort of your arm chair. Would it help if we asked LB to donate a few rolling pins so that you can ‘virtually’ cycle along the sea front? :)

Either way Rod, we hope you are soon back on your legendary travels around the Shire frightening little old ladies in your lycra :)

we set out to find the ultimate slipper
I already see them in my minds eye - they are, of course, Bart Simpson slippers !
Sadly being being a size 11 means I am discriminated against !
For some absurd reason they are only made in kids sizes

My curtain twitching days are over as is the use of my telescope, the police now have that after a ‘misunderstanding’ involving a rather attractive young blonde who used to live across the road :)

I’m not ready for the velocipede just yet, more’s the pity, can’t wait to get back into full swing ;)
    Cheers

    Rod,

Our very own leopard print mules with all weather soles were seen this morning charging, and we do mean charging…. outside to rescue a giant bird food ball. Yes, the finger of suspicion points right at squirrel nutkin since he was spotted legging it away from the crime scene, cheeks bulging with ill-gotten gains :)

We doubt very much that a Bart slipper would have risen to the challenge in quite such magnificent style :)

    WoE
