I have to agree Ade, it’s not for me either ! I think if it was a genuine talent show then perhaps that might give it some credibility but are we saying that those people on screen are the finest examples of musical talent this country has to offer ?

It’s all so false as well, as you say the sugary stories the manufactured reaction from the crowd etc etc
I could go on (and frequently do)

Intriguing site. I like it, and thought I’d post because the discovery of your site from my browsing was directly linked to the return of X-factor.

Now, let’s be clear, I hate the X-factor. In fact, I pretty much dislike all this kind of TV, much of which my good lady wife enjoys (I reserve my most vociferous feelings for Eastenders and Most Haunted). None of it has anything to do with sport, culture, motorbikes or attractive women, ergo it’s a waste of time, thoroughly depressing and to be avoided at all costs. As a result of this, I have plenty of time to stumble through the internet and on Saturday evening last week was doing so brought on by the return of X-factor. I found a link to your site from my motorbike forum and bingo!

Things to dislike about X-factor:
- the sobbing hard luck stories (is that just me?!)
- the inherent and implied suggestion that appearing on the programme is some kind of achievement
- the false hope it offers to people who clearly have no talent

The flip side:
- the Aussie sheila and the Geordie lass

Anyway, that’s that. Quite cathartic actually.

Get straight back in the closet… the outside world is no place for a little witchlet There are indeed potions to assist in the purging of Xfactor etc and you should waste no time in applying them to your lens, the thicker the better

In future try to restrict your viewing to subjects that expand the mind like beach volley ball and Lord Byron the Yeti, as we RC bloggers do. Of course you should bare in mind dear Colin and his highness Daniel, Lord Strut-Worthy of Craig, both of which you may incorporate into your daily mind expansion plan

Please may I be granted forgiveness and pitied for the haunting snippets that keep flashing into my mind, despite all efforts to blank them.

Whilst I can often glaze and instantly forget many a meaningful documentary or historical drama, the power of such inane shows as X factor have a disturbing effect that can linger for days.

Funny you should mention sport as I have prepared a sports post on the Olympics for Saturday !

I too will not be watching Xfactor because Matron says we’ll all get too excitable with Dannii and Cheryl on the screen at once which will lead to heavy sedation once again !
