When is Lincolnshire Day

When is Lincolnshire Day ?
Why today of course !

You didn’t know it was Lincolnshire Day today ? - Shame on you !
Well, neither did I !
I was actually, somewhat recklessly, away from Wybers Wood and walking on the beach bathed in glorious sunshine on a beautifully clear day with the tide, quite literally, lapping at my Transglobe shod feet - something I should avoid - who knows where it’s been lapping !
As soon as this was brought to my attention it raised several questions:

Q: Why didn’t I know about this historic day
    A: Because it’s never happened before ???

OK then, a brand new day to celebrate, hooray ! The excitement around the county is palpable.

Q: What happens on this glorious day ?
A: You can get a free plum loaf in the Co Op when you use your dividend card

Why was the 1st October chosen the more curious amongst you may be wondering. Well you historically ignorant peasants - 1st October 1536 was the date of the Lincolnshire rebellion.
Sadly it failed, though thinking about it we should not let this discourage the possibility of another uprising.
In fact, the time is about right for another now !

Q: Did you know there is also an official flag for the county ?
    A: No … neither did I !

Lincolnshire Flag

The Lincolnshire Flag
Fly it high with pride

According to the BBC this ensign flies proudly and boldly throughout the county, it’s yet to fly in any location the has coincided with my presence but if the BBC says so then it must be true.

So go out and get some Lincolnshire sausages for your dinner tonight and celebrate in style with me, mine are extra low fat ones of course :)

    Rod,

The BBC suggested we all wear something yellow, not perhaps the most flattering of colours for most of us (not you Rod, you wear canary yellow with aplomb).

In amoungst all the chat about Lincolnshire sausages etc., spare a thought for what fabulous people there are here in the county. The witches have travelled far and wide but have never been so blessed with good friends as we are now. Could be something to do with age and the influx of southern/northern/foreign charismatic folk, but hey who cares, they all count :)

I do have a yellow shirt and a yellow polo shirt so I could have participated - if only I’d known earlier !

It certainly is a good county, I woldn’t grace it with my presence were it not :)

Do you mean we have something to celebrate !.

Ps - Told you the Co-Op was OK ! , need a dividend card though.
I wonder if they are giving extra points as well.

Well said, I will agree, having moved out of the County once, I was certainly glad to get back in and back below sea level.

I find also that the people in Lincolnshire have a great sense of humour.
