Ami & LB,
I like the picture too I put it together some years ago for another site I have.
It probably works better now in fact - the idea that a hot chick can't wrag my attention away from a book . . .

FF,
that's a cracking idea - are you suggesting I feature in it ?
I could appear as Mr January wearing only my Ushanka hat

There could also be a lucrative retail opportunity here :)

Rod,
Perhaps you should make your own calendar!
It would give you something to do on these cold, dark, sober evenings :)

Post scriptum

I think the Мишка calendar would be a good candidate for 2010.

Or, what about this one portraying mine host studying Latin?

Rod,
Amo, amas, amat, amamus, amatis, amant lingua latina. I wouldn't make any great claims as a linguist but if you can get a grasp of Latin you are half way to understanding most European and South American languages. There is no need to learn all the noun declensions or verb conjugations initially, just get a grasp on the roots and you are on your way. :)

Neville,
Long day at school yesterday
You're very knowledgeable for a schoolboy, gives me hope for the youth of today :)

I like the 'out of kindness' Neville, just looked it up myself to further educate myself (not difficult)
That does put a whole new light on it - arguably you could do something 'out of kindness' or as a favour but not necessarily free of charge !?!

I did once try to learn Latin with the occasional telephonic part-time help of a good friend who was admirably versed in it . However him being MA Oxon I suspect the whole process was too painful for him !
So I Remain in Ignorance Yours

Rod et al,

Apologies for 24 hour furlough, didn't manage to get on the ether at all yesterday. Long day at school yesterday, (Christmas Bazaar after work). Felt shattered, in bed by 8.30! Anyway, fully refreshed now and up for it......

Firstly, free gratis isn't saying 'free' twice, that is just modern usage that gives that impression. Gratis in Latin means given out of kindness or favour. That would be the case if for instance a book dealer gave a supplier plenty of orders they may well, at the appropriate time of year send him/her a gratis calendar in recognition of the business put their way. Of course, they wouldn't send him/her an invoice for it, (unless they were economically suicidal,) so it indeed would be free gratis.

Second issue:
Weather forcasts. Don't watch the TV ones they are more of a presenter's performance and too all embracing. If you want fairly reliable and focused forecasts which are updated hourly there is only one place to go......Metcheck:
http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/HOME/
Just type in your intended location or postcode and all will be revealed. I use it to inform t'management what it is going to be like, prior to school trips and it is always reliable.
There are many features to the site and well worth browsing around. Fascinating watching lightning strikes moving through the country or checking the current weather in Woomera or Tibuktu. Do try out all the menu bullets on the left. It is a condensation of data from many different sources so is as accurate as you can get.

No longer under the weather,
N  le
