What Should I Do in 2010 ?

What Should I Do in 2010 ?
Well the first thing is to thank everybody for 2009 I suppose but it’s that perennial question that’s always raised at this time of year.
What are you New Year’s Resolutions ?

When people ask me What are you New Year’s Resolutions I usually reply I have none which inevitably brings about the follow-up question
What are your plans for next year then - it’s a natural enough question I suppose and a natural time to look back on on things and see what you’d like to change in your life.

Here’s a few things that happened last year in a Hot or Not style list

Hot in 2009

    Photography
    Living an alternative lifestyle
    Different and fascinating interests
    Even healthier lifestyle
This site having over 22 million hits in 2009
    The kitchen garden
    Sabaton
    Days out
Looking at things with new eyes

Cold in 2009

    £142.50 for a TV licence
    The price of decent cheese

As you can see, there wasn’t much in my life that was negative last year, I’m most fortunate . . .
Well, I’m not really as that suggests luck played a part in it, it didn’t but it’s a phrase most like to use so we’ll go with it.
Whether fortunate or lucky is etymologically correct is less important than the fact I feel ‘fortunate and lucky’

What do I want for 2010 - well pretty much what I had in 2009 - a repeat year would be more than satisfactory !

Here is a picture I took on New Year’s Eve - it’s not fantastic but it is to me. It’s the first picture I’ve taken of an owl. I was on a day trip with my brother and he suggested as it was heading toward dusk we round the day off in search of a barn owl - and he found us one - fantastic !

Here’s an interesting take I did this time last year, check it out - perhaps I should have done that again - Oh well too late now :)
It’s done - as is 2009

Thanks to everybody for everything - you all know who you are
Thanks to everybody who visits the site and a Happy New Year to you

All the best for 2010
Rod

    Rod,

It must be a real dilemma…. flaps up or down? Perhaps you could put a photo of yourself wearing that hat on the blog every week…. a sort of human pine cone. One flap down could mean changeable, both flaps at right angles, a good day for drying washing? :)

My own Ushanka hat had to be re-wired by a qualified Milliner since the regulations changed…. on a good day I can pick up Sky :)

    LL,
I’ll stick to the formula, I’m not sure it’s winning one but it’s not too bad :)
I hope to be bring some more owls to a website near you soon - hopefully people will be able to contain their excitement at the thought :)
    Cheers

    Rod,

Wasn’t certain of where to put this. Like most schools we’re closed yet again today so I’m thinking of making a career change and train as a snow disposal operative. Or out of season, a salt and grit miner :)

People seem to think we’ve had a lot of the white stuff; may I suggest that they take a look at this to see what it is like when it really snows in the UK?

    I remember it well as a five-year-old.

    Neville,
I don’t remember the schools shutting “when I was a lad” once I think one winter because the whole boiler system had broken down - but that’s it !
