What is the Best Age Gap Between Man & Wife

What is the perfect age gap that should separate man and wife or boyfriend and girlfriend ?
A question that came into my mind from a couple of comments on a previous thread
Well, I have the answer …

On a previous post featuring the new Bond Girl Olga Kurylenko it was suggested by Femme Fatale and Jordan that she might be a little young !
If so then

What is the Ideal Age Gap Between Men and Women

Well, there is an ideal mathematical equation and statistical rule
The woman should be half the mans age plus 7 years !

FF and Jordan were correct then, when aren’t they :) , at 28 she is a year too young for me :(

They say age doesn’t matter and in some cases I’m sure it doesn’t but in most I suspect it does to a greater or lesser degree.
Large disparities on either side must lead to potential problems.
Society also still hypocritically frowns on couples with a significantly younger male whilst accepting as normal an older man with a younger woman.

I suppose this does have an effect as does the ageing process which does tend to be crueller to women than men - perhaps with the rise in female millionaires we’ll see more toy boys ;)

This also reminded of an incident a while ago …
Your host was walking through town taking in the vista that was a particularly fit young lady.
I was rudely awakened from the lascivious thoughts by a poke in the back and the words
“she’s too young for you !”
These cruel words that shattered my reverie sprung forth from the mouth of a female friend but quick as ever, your host replied with almost Wildean wit
“Correction, I may be too old for her - but she is not too young for me”

Does age matter more to men than women ?
If so how much does the supposed shallowness of men and the equally supposed belief that many women seek security come into it ?

Only problem with this is, the next year, the calculation doesn’t work.

For example, if they meet when the man is 40 then the woman needs to be 27 - in two years time the man is 42 and the woman should be 28 but she’s now 29.

    Oh well.

thanks for the comment, much appreciated and welcome to the site.
I’m presuming the theory is based on the age they meet as you clearly demonstrate the mathematical flaw otherwise, or possibly you need to part-exchange after a few years for a younger model :)

Perhaps the fact that the woman is gaining a year is proof positive of the female urge to lie be mysterious about her age

    Rod,
    Love the ‘Wildean’ reposte-classic. Here’s a suggestion-Male 39 and 3/4 Female 21 or thereabouts-that should do it.

    Rod,

Let us leave aside Mr Wilde for now and focus instead of Mr Freud… you used the term man and wife… we are not dusting off our best ostrich plumes for you and a teenage soviet bride :) …. and as for your new image finally maturing we are all gripping our seats in anticipation! Please tell us there’s more to this than a pendant.

We have nothing to add on the subject of carnations, green or otherwise :)

No need to get anything out of mothballs just yet :)
As to the new image there are a few variables that need to come together, some of a practical nature and some theoretical, possibly one or two etheral as well.

Time will tell if all the planets will collide

    Rod,

Are you going to be the house muse of a designer? :) ummm planets colliding…. aesthetic space craft movement… have NASA been bothering you again? :)

Should the new you appear before us and not be recognized, don’t be down hearted, it’ll just be a case of surreptitiously recovering our breathlessness and weak knees… some of us might take to wearing support stockings and full BA on the off chance … daresay we’ll be easily recognizable :)

I am my own muse - anything design or trend based I shall be setting myself - others, if bold enough, will follow :)

Avoid support stockings at all costs !

Iam married to one 17 years younger. Age differences can be a challange considering life expectancies. e.g. time to retire vs I still want to work. Or I am a little tired vs I want to go out. Everything else seems to work so far.

Women live at least 7 years longer than men! So technically older women should be dating younger men.

Also older men who marry younger women are just selfish. If they truly love the lady then they wouldn’t want her to take care of him when he gets into old age.

In the end, in these type of relationships….the older husband dies early…and the younger wife dies out of grief of the death of the husband.

And about fertility….well men’s fertility declines after 25 and more rapidly after 35. The chances of having children with Down’s syndrome increases as the man ages.

Research suggest that the older the man is to the woman, the shorter the woman’s life expectancy. So women should try to marry someone the same age if they want to live long.

    Me old
    There’s surely some mistake somewhere, I’m a mere youth, I must be . . I even have a hoodie :)

I like the idea of ‘getting dirty with Abbey’ though I think I would prefer to get dirty doing archaeology on an ancient Abbey site - perhaps you’re right - I am getting old :)
    Cheers

    Funny stories and formula?
When I met my ex she did not fit the formula,
#1 In fact 1/2 minus 5 years. then 10 years later when we broke up she was 1/2 my age Exactly.
#2 But if when we met she had been 1/2 +7, 10 years later she would be 1/2 plus12.
    #3 So at 60 I need to find a woman 37?
    The math?
    #1 50/2-5=20, 20+10=30 (30 is 1/2 of 60)
    #2 50/2+7=32, 32+10=42(42 = 60/2+12?)
#3 60/2+7=37 (and here I thought late 40’s was ok too)
Maybe that formula is a little off? Or just a dirty ol man!
