What Happens After the Snow Has Gone?
The Party’s Over
Here in the Golden Shire it’s all over, the snow has all but gone.
Somehow it’s a shame . . .
Having just returned from an evening post-prandial walk I’m left with the feeling that everything looks a but sad.
It looks like a party the day after, all the excitement has gone and only the mess is left, like a faded movie star it’s best viewed in sympathetic light.
It feels like a great let-down in many ways, I know Many People Hate the Snow but, selfishly, for me it provides something of a change and a chance to see old scenes in a new guise and some much needed photographic opportunities.
To that end I took this photograph recently on a glorious day in-between snow showers . . .

A Beautiful Scene, Minutes from La Casa Goldeneye
I suppose it’s all back to normal now, cold and miserable days without the excitement of the snow, dark mornings and dark afternoons.
It really does feel a bit dull, a let-down almost, the post holiday blues, Monday morning, the day after your birthday . . .
I’m sure most people are pleased to see the back of the snow but for me it all looks a little dull and disappointing.
I’m hoping for some inspiration in these gloomy days before spring, something to point a camera at and some interesting stuff to bring to the site.
Defrostingly yours,
Rod

I don’t know what has happened to our Ontario winters, over here. There is definately some shift in the climate. Second winter in a row now with only a skim of snow but alot of rain, mud, and above zero temperatures. Definately not what most people think of when they hear the term ‘Canadian winter.’ Except for today…..-16 c !

Lynne,
we’ll seem pretty ‘weedy’ here in the UK compared to you in Canada
-16 . . . phew!

I was talking to a native Australian today, who has lived in Africa, Saudi et al. And I Quote ‘ I never understood why you Poms get so excited when it’s a warm day….. when I lived in regular 30+ temperatures we got excited at a drop of rain………well since moving here I realise now…..if it’s above 8oC and not raining…..it’s a beautiful day!’

Mrs HH,
I suppose it’s human nature to want what’s not generally available.
People travel to get to Cleethorpes yet most locals don’t bother with it and nobody who lives in the Lake District walks anywhere
