The seasonal gatherings have kicked off here and tomorrow the Tuesday Philosophical Choir will be lunching at the Coven…. always a joy to us despite the dodgy line-up This year we’ve set up a security system to check their every movement (bit like Bill Gates) and finally to locate any missing silver, apart from that they’ll be free to roam their enclosure and graze

Here at the Coven we’re making a new years resolution list early… scoring top marks is ‘don’t start building/plumbing projects in November that are bound to lag on into December’…. closely followed by ‘don’t leave menfolk in charge of anything’ …..

Too true.

I have been in many situations over the Christmas period throughout the years, and i beleive that Christmas is what you want to make of it.

If you want to sit and think ‘Oh woe is me’, then so be it.
If you want to be on your own, enjoying a bottle or 2 and a nice meal, good too.
If you are surrounded by friends and family and wish to be so, then that is good.
I don’t beleive Christmas is just for children.

I buy, for whom i wish and whether it be a 2p chew sweet that they remember from childhood that i have finally found. Or something more expensive that i know they hold dear, its alway with thought, not and never just a ‘make-do’ present.

To all your site, i wish a Merry Christmas in whatever situation they are in and whatever they are planning to do.

Agreed, but this theory really does work, I’ve used it on everyone I know and it really does get to the bottom of their true character.
Think about all aspects of someone’s xmas, or your own, they’ll be something there that really is telling !

The other day I said I might eat a partridge for my xmas lunch, one person said that was really sad that I would be sat on my own eating it. As I eat every other meal of the year on my own I couldn’t understand the point. As for decorations, I am not bothering because I am never in the front room to appreciate them. Self assesment, like other peoples perception of each other is easy to do if you are honest and realistic. What some people perceive as sad I look at as reality; single bloke, no kids, works hard and makes the most of what I have. I can’t wait for xmas day night, I’ll have finished work, eaten well, drank a good red and enjoyed doing exactly what I want to do. The alternative which people think is ‘de rigeur’ on Christmas day might not be as universally popular as many think it is, if we are all honest with ourselves that is. Being single at Christmas doesn’t always equal sad as I often hear, I know a lot of couples who dread it because they are constantly making compromises-I might think that is sad, but I don’t say it.
