What Does Christmas Say About You

Is What You Do at Christmas is a Reflection of You as a Person ?
It seems like a great barometer if you really want to know what sort of person you are or someone else is !

I don’t suppose many of us are as we think we are or as others see us, the key is to see yourself as you are - unbiased.

One good way could be by looking at what you do during the Christmas period.
It struck me just how easy it is to tell someone’s character by looking at there Xmas plans, decorations, food, presents etc.

Think about yourself, how does it tie in, what are the key pointers ?

Decorations:

Are you classy or tacky ?

Presents:

Mean, generous or spending beyond your means ?

Food:

Nice quality and healthy or as much crap as you can get down ?

There are plenty more, feel free to contribute your own.
The more I think about it the better it gets as an indicator to a persons true character.
Look at what you and others do during the festive holidays - it really is a great reflection.

Of course applying cold logic to yourself in such a way may be something you’d prefer not to do.

Using it on myself is illuminating but not surprising to me, but it does reinforce the principal of the idea as a tool for a personality self-diagnosis.
Because Christmas is a heightened time of over-emphasis on all things it brings all your character traits to the very forefront - easy to see hard to hide !

I would appear to be nearer Scrooge than Santa as I have no decorations up, the festive music currently playing is by Johnny Cash !!!! Solitary Man, Hurt, Thirteen and The Beast in Me.
Christmas dinner will be high in protein and low in fat.
I went xmas shopping yesterday, bought 2 things, both for me !
All of this pretty much makes me look like a miserable ******* !
Something which I would like to deny but the new Goldeneye method of knowing yourself and others by their actions at Christmas cannot be ignored.

Try it on others !
Try it on yourself !
Dare you be brutally honest ?
Dare you share it ?

Let us know what you think to the idea, even if you daren’t analyze yourself !
Merry Christmas Bah Humbug

    Rod,
The other day I said I might eat a partridge for my xmas lunch, one person said that was really sad that I would be sat on my own eating it. As I eat every other meal of the year on my own I couldn’t understand the point. As for decorations, I am not bothering because I am never in the front room to appreciate them. Self assesment, like other peoples perception of each other is easy to do if you are honest and realistic. What some people perceive as sad I look at as reality; single bloke, no kids, works hard and makes the most of what I have. I can’t wait for xmas day night, I’ll have finished work, eaten well, drank a good red and enjoyed doing exactly what I want to do. The alternative which people think is ‘de rigeur’ on Christmas day might not be as universally popular as many think it is, if we are all honest with ourselves that is. Being single at Christmas doesn’t always equal sad as I often hear, I know a lot of couples who dread it because they are constantly making compromises-I might think that is sad, but I don’t say it.
    Merry Christmas!!!

    LB,
Agreed, but this theory really does work, I’ve used it on everyone I know and it really does get to the bottom of their true character.
Think about all aspects of someone’s xmas, or your own, they’ll be something there that really is telling !
    It’s so accurate !

    Too true.

I have been in many situations over the Christmas period throughout the years, and i beleive that Christmas is what you want to make of it.

If you want to sit and think ‘Oh woe is me’, then so be it.
If you want to be on your own, enjoying a bottle or 2 and a nice meal, good too.
If you are surrounded by friends and family and wish to be so, then that is good.
I don’t beleive Christmas is just for children.

I buy, for whom i wish and whether it be a 2p chew sweet that they remember from childhood that i have finally found. Or something more expensive that i know they hold dear, its alway with thought, not and never just a ‘make-do’ present.

To all your site, i wish a Merry Christmas in whatever situation they are in and whatever they are planning to do.

    Jordan,

If you find any Bah Humbugs for 2p a bag then I think we know who might like those :)

Here at the Coven we’re making a new years resolution list early… scoring top marks is ‘don’t start building/plumbing projects in November that are bound to lag on into December’…. closely followed by ‘don’t leave menfolk in charge of anything’ ….. :)

The seasonal gatherings have kicked off here and tomorrow the Tuesday Philosophical Choir will be lunching at the Coven…. always a joy to us despite the dodgy line-up :) This year we’ve set up a security system to check their every movement (bit like Bill Gates) and finally to locate any missing silver, apart from that they’ll be free to roam their enclosure and graze :)

    Happy Christmas
