What Do Single Men Do on Public Holidays
Just what do single men do on public holidays ?
Well, I go out looking for birds of course !
Yes folks such is my dedication to you dear reader that I’m now writing my second blog post on Christmas Day - what a service you get - there should be a subscription fee ! Illustrations are all pictures taken today, or yesterday if you’re reading this on boxing day, if you’re reading it the day after boxing day - then what are you playing at - tune in more regularly
It’s freezing cold and treacherous icy under foot but I’m afeared of nowt - with great derring-do I even risked a trip to Immingham today that should be enough for anybody but your host understands he can seem slightly different to the great unwashed so I thought “I’ll do a few standard things that ‘normal people’ do on Christmas Day”
To that end I settled down to have my Xmas day lunch in a graveyard, ensuring I was nearest the 1700s grave stones for a greater feeling of old-fashioned tradition.
Twas after feasting handsomely (I can’t help it if I look good even whilst eating
) on some remarkably fine Westphalian Ham that I had an enjoyable chat with a retired undertaker . . . yeah I know . . . it’s all a bit predictable.

Blue Tit on Immingham Church Roof
During our discourse on old tomb stones I asked if he knew of any with skulls on - he said he did - pray tell said I
Well, said he, clearly relishing the upper hand, pausing for effect then speaking in a conspiratorial tone, have you heard of the pirate’s grave at Stallingborough ?
Would that be Ellis Penson who died aged 23 in 1720 retorted I with rapier like precision.
Oh yes . . . wounded ! . . . 1 nil Goldeneye

A kestrel I came across whilst walking in the afternoon
I’d just looked Mee’s Lincolnshire in the car and read about a monument to the Pilgrim Fathers (more to come soon ) and was thinking how the hell am I going to find that.
How can I find a creek on the shoreline - nightmare, could be anywhere - so I thought I’d chance my arm with our 1 nil down and wounded retired undertaker.
You wouldn’t happen to know where the Pilgrim Fathers thing is would you said I
I would said he, clearly sensing the bell for round two
My car’s just there said I pointing, I’ve an OS map in it could you show me on that perhaps ?
You’re parked right across the road from it he said it’s there look, the big stone thing near the sign saying Pilgrims Park
Aaaarrgghh - wounded 2-1 to the retired undertaker

Flying Off - Clearly Bored of My Company
Having been buried by the undertaker I took my leave, photographed the monument and returned to the womb-like comfort of La Casa Goldeneye.
A nice walk, after a restorative cup of tea, and a chance to try out a new piece of camera kit I got for Christmas saw me taking these last 3 pics

Squirrel About to Take Off
I caught this one, note nut in mouth, literally just about to launch himself into another tree, note the movement in tail etc and position of front paws.
All exciting stuff, well not as exciting as a night with Pammie but better than a broken toe, there is more but I suspect I’ve wearied your eyes already - if indeed you got this far.
I’d say Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays but as my father always says “it’s a far away now as it’ll ever be !”
Hope you enjoyed yours
Festeringly Yours
Rod

In the second kestrel picture it is doing an Immingham moonie to you! What’s more, I hope its not one of your nuts that the squirrel had pinched

i doubt this regiment was around when Sabaton was, its only a couple of years old, its the latest SF unit operating home and abroad and it has seen action in the UK on 7/7 and in northern ireland, Its primary function is the gathering of intel on suspect terrorist cells for the conventional SAS home and abroad..
