UK Postal Rate Changes for Booksellers

On August the 21st 2006 the Royal Mail postal system will change.
Here is a quick and dirty guide for booksellers

There are now 3 catagories
Letter - size related and up to 100g
Large Letter - size related and up to 750g
Packet

For book dealers here is the price list for the packet section

First Class

  • 0-100g = £1
  • 101-250g = £1.27
  • 251-500g = £1.70
  • 501-750g = £2.20
  • 751-1000g = £2.70
  • 1001-1250g = £4.74
  • every extra 250g after this + £0.85

Second Class

  • 0-100g = £0.84
  • 101-250g = £1.09
  • 251-500g = £1.39
  • 501-750g = £1.77
  • 751-1000g = £2.12

Over 1,000g 2nd class unavailable

For papberback book sellers they will have to check out the sizing options as thinner paperback books look like they could go ‘large letter’ depending on packaging of course

So winners and losers for those selling books on ebay, abebooks, Amazon, Alibris and Biblio, but overall better than I expected and far less complicated than it might have been
Hope this is some help
Regards
Rod
