UFOs in Grimsby Lincolnshire ~ Strange Orange Glow in Sky

What are those strange orange lights in the sky over Grimsby ?
Are they UFOs
That’s the question that was put to me and it could mean only one thing . . .
The return of . . . Tintin - Ace Reporter !

Yes folks, once again I had to don the mantle of Tintin - Ace Reporter and without fear for my personal safety and with great derring-do I ventured out in the dark, camera in hand, to investigate the strange phenomenon of the strange glowing orange objects in the skies over Grimsby in Lincolnshire.
A UFO sighting over GrimsbyClearly the risks were huge, the possibility of an alien encounter not to mention the likely possibility of extensive rectal probing if abducted but as has been proven before during Earthquakes and Biblical Flooding your host knows no fear when it comes to bringing you cutting edge news !

Twas a freezing cold November night and my spy on the ground informed me that said mysterious objects could be seen between 6pm and 8pm so I set off in search of the strange ghostly orange glow in the sky.
Protective clothing was clearly advisable but went nothing beyond keeping out the cold, not even a tin-foil hat.
Should I be abducted as an example of the human race I needed to make an impression on the visitors from another galaxy . . .
So I donned a Motorhead Hoodie !

After half an hour in temperatures that would have tested uber-man, and recipient of uncalculable man points , Sir Ranulph Fiennes I was rewarded and the monster telephoto was clicking awayorange light in the sky over Lincs. Moving very high in the sky and at a reasonable speed there was no sound as one would expect if it were a helicopter or aeroplane and so my confidential informant turned out to be eminently reliable and not a ‘wack job’

I can think of a possibility that would be grounded in the here-and-now rather than the extra-terrestrial, indeed strange lights were once reported over the fish docks in Grimsby many years ago in the Grimsby Evening Telegraph and I have to put my hands up and admit to being involved in their appearance !
Not so this time though

Is it a UFO ? Is there a possibility of life beyond this planet ? Is there even life on this planet today ? Is a bell necessary on a bicycle ? Is it right a man of my years is wearing a hoodie ?
If you have answers to these questions or ones of your own then please feel free to comment

Suggestions are welcomed as to what this strange apparition could be as indeed are any comments from those who have seen them too

    Tintin,
Didn’t you jump in the intrepid Rodmobile and drive toward the source? Did this strange illumination go high in the sky, or is it on the horizon? Inquiring minds want to know.

    Annie,
too high to see whence it came, I saw it once going laterally and later saw it again/another going upward. Cloudy night meant it kept disappearing.

Hi Rod. One of these ’strange’ orange lights passed quite low over my house on Saturday evening. On rushing outside, it was obvious that it was a Hot Air Balloon.

    David,
pleased you’ve seen the, yet to be confirmed, flying object as well.
If they are hot air balloons where do they keep coming from ?

I think this case is far from closed David :)

    Rod,
Life is a laugh isn’t it? And, lights in the sky are all part of the fun :)
I can recall three major events of this type in the Grimsby area in the past. Way back in October 1963, i was doing a bit of courting one evening in Weelsby Woods, (details withheld for security reasons,) when there was a big flash followed by a very big bang, (innuendo non-intendo.) Needless to say the courting came to an abrupt halt at that point. The next evening, the incident, (no, the flash and bang silly!) was reported in The Evening Telegraph and enquiries at RAF Binbrook etc., (best Brylcreem accent guys,) resulted in ” no known activities in the area”. Being a bit of an amateur astronomer, I pondered a little on the event, (particularly as it had spoilt a perfectly good evening,) and deduced that it may well have been a bolide, (Wiki it guys.) I wrote to the ‘Telegraph and they published my letter with no subsequent arguments from anyone, so I think I earned a man point there.
The second event I witnessed was I think 1968/9. I was at that time Leading Railman at Stallingborough Station and was on late turn, 2-10pm, and about 9pm I was walking from the station platform, (then, still lit by gas lamps!!!) to the signal box, when looking to my left I saw an amazingly bright, fluorescent green light silently snaking its way at a fair speed and quite low altitude but parallel to the ground. It kept disappearing behind houses and trees but I dashed up the signalbox steps and watched it disappear in a generally Northerly direction. According to the next evening’s Telegraph it was tracked all the way to Scotland by witnesses. I guess that was meteoric fireball.
The third event was I believe in the early seventies when there were repeated reports of strange powerful lights in the sky visible from the hill just outside Keelby on the Brocklesby Road. I had a chat with one of my mates, (Tony Woods, in case anyone knows him,) about it, and we took my 6″ Newtonian Reflector telescope up there in his old style VW Beetle. When we got there, there was a small crowd of expectant witnesses already gathered. I set up the telescope pointing in the general direction of Limber and we waited, eyes barely daring to blink while those who claimed to have seen the strange lights recounted their experiences. After about an hour and a half and with flasks drained I was beginning to get a wee bit bored so I thought I would take a photo of the assembled mini-crowd just in case witnesses to anything were needed. Of course all our eyes were totally dark-adjusted by then so when I did take the un-announced flash picture, (no, it wasn’t a T bar and magnesium powder type,) I think I triggered a series of brown trouser events. Nothing else of note happened that evening so we all gradually dispersed into the blackness, I with my sceptical attitude intact.

Sorry to have rambled on a bit guys but I wanted to get it all off my chest in one fell swoop.

    Sleuthily yours,
    Neville

    Neville,
that’s a very interesting comment and thanks for taking the time to share it - really appreiated.
I personally believe there is a huge amount going on that the public simply doesn’t know about.
Look at the drone planes that all of a sudden can target a specific house 1000s of miles away.

Well, they didn’t do that on a maiden test flight - unmanned planes must have been flying tests for ages . . .
I know someone who ‘believes’ [sic] he saw a ghost but knows he saw a ‘big cat’
He is absolutley sure of the cat sighting and believes in the ghostly vision - he will not say anything publicly because of his job and being labelled a ‘nutter’

I know there are a lot of Walter Mitty’s out there be equally there must be a lot who see things and never risk reporting it.

It seems, as you and CK agree, all UFO roads lead to Binbrook !

Rod, these are definately large chinese lanterns, as Chris said, one of our neighbours set about a dozen of them off last year one evening. The first one that crossed our garden, narrowly missing our trees was very alarming, so I had to watch them go and they just keep climbing to an incredible height, the wind at the same time takings them across country. They do look like hot air balloons especially at a distance where there is no sense of scale. I watched them until they were just specks, many miles away and still climbing, they must have ended up over the North Sea. I couldn’t help dwelling on the consequences if they had landed still burning in a field of wheat or on someone’s roof? So no “little green men” this time but I have heard accounts of genuine U.F.O.s from some very rational people and I would love to hear more if there are any out there….

    Dino,
    ah . . . very definitive answer.
Although I still think it’s too early to dismiss them ;)

Perhaps this is a good spot to report UFO sightings in Lincolnshire Dino - I too would be interested

    Rod,

I’m a bit worried that aliens are travelling about in hot air balloons and lanterns. Surely this is a retro step for an advanced civilization? :) Nevertheless a threat is a threat and you’ll be the first to know. There you are strolling along admiring nature when suddenly you get a sandbag on the head… are the visitors targeting a prime human specimen or were they getting too close for comfort and bailed out pronto?

The Motorhead hoodie is no match for an alien sandbag :)

its them sqiurrels again Rod hijacking the skys for thereown evil uses, it seems they have mastered the art of flight and intend to drop in on us when we least expect them, as mentioned above if they land in the cornfields in summer they will torch the lot, i seem to remember the Japs tryed this during WW2 over California, the sqiurrels are studying Military history so that they can improve on there warfare skills.

I am thinking now how long before they arrive in our gardens in un sqiurreled Rockets?..

    Chris,
there’s something in this squirrel business - I give them a wide berth now.
I used to be able to take them or leave them until my attention was drawn to them on Facebook - a timely warning indeed.

Such is their level of sophistication on even hijacked my Facebook page and put a picture on it !

Rod, I’m afraid this is a secondhand account of a U.F.O. incident but worth the telling I believe, in about 1971 my father was helping a friend repair his small boat on a quiet stretch of river. My father is usually the most sceptical of people who scoffs at anything “mysterious”, his friend happened to be a very experienced Fire Brigade officer, so no “tin-foil hats” involved.

They heard a very loud crackling noise, my father describes it as like static electricity, when they looked up they saw a triangle of three very bright green lights moving through the air across the landscape at an extraordinary speed, far faster than any aircraft could travel. Suddenly, abruptly the lights stopped and stood still, they then shot up into the sky vertically, again at incredible speed, until they vanished into the atmosphere.
I should perhaps add that my father and his friend were not drinkers, the phenomena was reported in the local press as many other people had witnessed it.

Has anyone an explanation or seen anything similar?

I live in Glasgow and saw the same orange glow. First time was on 5th Nov 09 at about 7pm, then again this evening.

On the 5th it travelled slowly in an easterly direction and then dissappeared from view. Tonight i watched it for about 2 minutes travelling slowly and then it shot off upwards at high speed out on my viewpoint.

Never been one for looking at the sky but has made me highly curious. In my opinion they glows are too visible and to high up to be chinese lanterns (unless these lanterns are 20m in diameter!) nor are they hot air balloons.

    Very strange…

    Dino,
that’s fascinating - clearly it must have actually happened so as you say what on earth, or indeed not of this earth, was it ?
I stick by the fact there is a huge amount we don’t know, that doesn’t mean it can’t be explained or that somebody else might know - just we the general public don’t know.

It’s a fascinating subject and opinions and other anecdotes are welcomed by all
    Cheers

    8.15pm, Sunday 8th November,

Me and my fella have seen this mysterious orange ball this evening.
I thought it was a firework but looked more closely and found it was travelling at speed, with no sound, and the light remained constant, so it can’t have been under-carriage or navigation lights.
Maybe it was a PR stunt by Tango lol………………..Ha Ha.

    Hi Folks:
    Interesting conversation.
I would like to suggest taking a close & ‘up dated’ look at HAARP.
An awesome machine capable of much -that we know of -and probably much more of what we don’t.
Look at molecular dissociation. It’s to do with frequencies and apparently can powder cement reinforced with rebar.
Our brass boys have technologies that we are totally unaware of.
Some UFO’s could very well be dispatched out of Area 51 or Alaska for all we know.
A few coins for the pot..Soap.

Hi Rod, I saw the same phenomena this evening on leaving Grimsby around 8pm travelling slowly northwards over the entry to the A180 bypass. It looks like a giant afterburner with no aircraft attached.
