Time Team in Lincoln
The archaeological TV show Time Team in coming to Lincolnshire – Lincoln Castle no less
Tony Robinson and Phil Harding anybody . . .
I’d prefer not to think about the number of years ago it was I first started watching Time Team on Channel 4, Sunday 6pm I think, I always used to love it.
I’ve no TV now so it’s a thing of the past but I thought this worth a quick write up for those lucky enough to have the Cathode Ray Tube.
I’m referring to an article in Lincolnshire magazine called Good Taste which is an excellent publication. The article mentions the restoration work going on at the castle in the Bailgate at Lincoln, in particular underground chambers – which are connected to the storage of the Magna Carta
This archaeological work stirred the interest of Channel 4’s Time Team and they’ve been visiting and filming the work on and off over a 6 month period for a Time Team Special – so keep your eyes peeled for that one.
Sorry not to have the broadcast date for the show, if it turns up or anybody knows it then please do share the information.
I know Time Team is easily disregarded by serious historians and archaeologists but it has provided a lot of pleasure and education for many over the years – not to mention increasing archaeological awareness on a large scale.
I’m very pleased they’ve been back to Lincolnshire again as it will highlight once again what a rich history the county has.
All comments on Time Team and the above always welcome
All the best
