It is most certainly not a talent contest. It's purely entertainment. I have noticed the most talented acts are often overlooked and favour in terms of the voting process is given to those most popular in the media. This year alone two of the worst female singers were put through as they are making headlines each day. I'd like to see some of the huge pool of original and talented musicians out there given a chance rather than just a parade of people seeing who can sing a Whitney Houston song best. We need to nurture original musical talent after all if shows like X factor are to continue somebody has to compose music and write songs for them to cover in the future. Simon Cowell has just signed a three year deal with ITV to continue X factor so it looks like it's here to stay.
