The X Factor Blows ~ It’s Back and There’s No Escape
Yes folks, X Factor is back ![]()
The show that stops at nothing to show case the finest undiscovered musical talent Britain has to offer.
They go through the country with a fine tooth comb and come up with the likes of this
We’ve been here before, of course, with The X-Factor Sucks so in the words of the immortal Bart Simpson . . .
It didn’t think it was scientifically possible but this both sucks and blows at the same time ![]()
If you live outside the UK fear not you may be able to tune in via cable or on the internet - I do hope you can because the pride of Britain is to be show cased . . .
The likes of Emma Chawner seen here on the left - it seems the humiliation she, and subsequently her family, endured in the name of entertainment is to be relived as she previously failed, for some unaccountable reason, to get through - let’s have another go !
I understand on these ‘talent’ shows it really does help to have a sob story as you get the pubic vote behind you. Sadly for Emma who still lives at home with her parents and sister - things aren’t easy as they are unable to work and have to survive on welfare . . .
Is it the Credit Crunch that makes work so hard to find ? No it’s the, self-confessed, combined weight of the family of 4 !
They weigh in at 83 stone and have to make do with only £22,500 ($37,000 US) a year in handouts because they are too fat to work
Welcome the the UK 2009 !
But it’s not all about bloody awful singers and fat birds the lovely Dannii Minogue will be there as will Cheryl Cole as well - the tide is starting to turn and I’m tempted to tune the set in to Channel III
Still, what do I know about TV ? I spent two hours watching F1 cars trying to go round a track 0.10 of a second quicker than the last lap just to see where they park for the start of the race tomorrow
Anyhoo, make sure you tune in, stand up if they play the National Anthem, and take great pride in what the United Kingdom has to showcase itself to the world - and just to finally prove my point that the The X Factor Blows . . .
Here’s a picture of a squirrel I took today in the top of a tree eating a nut

Chris,
I know, youcould do a Clockwork Orange and force people to watch it - a Cruel and Unusual Punishment as they used to say

LB,
thanks for that, I didn’t know she was your type
I was pleased with the shot yet disappointed as there were 2 squirrels in the same tree yet never quite in shot
This one was hanging on the very edge of a tiny branch, swaying precariously, very high up so the detail is only reasonable

I must say I quite enjoy x factor, Yes it is reality television at it’s worth but love it or hate it, We are all talking about it! It is entertaining although not as much this year as previous ones. Like all shows the novelty wears off. Simon Cowell has just signed a three year deal with ITV to continue X factor so it looks like it’s here to stay. Most of my friends enjoy it which could be due to our age, Even male friends tune in (The Cheryl Cole effect)

Vesper,
I don’t object to it as ‘entertainment’ but what depresses me is it’s billed as a ‘talent show’ and to me it’s glorified karaoke.
I’d like to see some of the huge pool of original and talented musicians out there given a chance rather than just a parade of people seeing who can sing a Whitney Houston song best.
We need to nurture original musical talent after all if shows like X factor are to continue somebody has to compose music and write songs for them to cover in the future.
As variety or light entertainment then I’m sure it’s fine but it just seems like a missed opportunity to me
I’ll not get onto how much manipulation there is in it , both of the audience and those performing as it’s worth an article in itself.
Best

Hi Rod,
I have to agree with you there. It is most certainly not a talent contest. It’s purely entertainment. I have noticed the most talented acts are often overlooked and favour in terms of the voting process is given to those most popular in the media. This year alone two of the worst female singers were put through as they are making headlines each day. It would be interesting to see a show display all types of artists with a different voting system.
