The Stresses & Strains of Bookselling
You’d imagine a semi-retired booksellers life to be easy - but think again !
Goldeneye attacked by a fox and it’s all Paul Gilbert’s fault.
As I’m used to running my own ship and setting my own course means being blown, even slightly, off course is a matter of extreme stress for one with such delicate sensibilities as myself.
The day was always doomed as I was marked down for a home invasion !
Here at La Casa Goldeneye we do not generally encourage visitors but this one had to be admitted.
I questioned them why I could not install the equipment myself as I had done previously …
“Ohhhh noooo - verrry tricky”
So the die was cast - the sanctity of my bolt hole was to be shattered and I had to wait in all day for the privilege, with no music on, for this Visigoth to descend.
And descend he did, he drove, in heavy rain, all the way from Selby in Yorkshire, plugged a machine into the mains and telephone socket, pressed a button marked setup and said “there you go mate”
Thank god for the technically gifted.
This is dragging on so I’ll edit out the rest, someone told me recently they don’t read the ‘long ones’, and move onto the evening.
This brings me to Paul Gilbert and the fox.
Feeling the need to shred some guitar I went to get my latest DVD from the man himself for background inspiration and instruction.
Bending down to pick it up from of top of the DVD played I cracked my head on a fox’s head mounted on the wall - attacked by a 100 year old fox !
A small amount of blood was drawn but being of sturdy stock I shrugged it off and remain in good health - physically if not mentally.
It’s all too much for me !

Rod,
Hope the head is ok today?
Just had a thought, nothing to do with the post, but are you related to Joan and Jackie?
( Jackie was on the TV last night, which prompted my question!)

FF,
the is a small wound to my head but I am bravely battling on
There is no genetic realtion, so far as I am aware, between Joan Collins and Jackie Collins, there is a connection though …
I’m ageing as well as Joan and the quality of my writing is similar to Jackie
Regards
Rod

Rod,
Part of your smooth, sophisticated style is the certainty that if anyone is going to fracture a skull on a vintage fox, it would be you
That, in a way, is nice to know because if you weren’t so vulnerable women wouldn’t perhaps be quite so drawn to clutching you to their bosom, in a purely motherly way of course

WoE
thanks for the reassuring words, my headaches less just believing it
I may play up the vulnerable side and see if it does indeed lead to any clutching to bosoms - sounds pretty good to me, sans the motherly bit of course.
I’ll check my email and see if there are any volunteers !
Cheers
