The Hottest Place in the UK

It’s time for a return to the hot or not list !
Here is a recent weather report

A Warm Front

Sunbathing in the Garden

What a delight, very quiet and relaxing.
What’s more it was an all over tanning session
Lincolnshire life for your host when the weather is nice is particularly pleasant. The only complaint was the unpleasant and annoying company - just a minute … I was on my own :)

Reading

I seem to be enjoying the pleasure of reading even more than before. I’ve always enjoyed books but never more so than now, I just wish I had not read so many books and could discover some of my favourites for the first time now.
    Tip: Read Bernard Cornwell

Kitchen Garden

Growing your own vegetables in Lincolnshire takes some beating. Once again it probably says more about me than it does about growing veg ! Hardly the actions of a self-styled and so called Eligible Bachelor ! Shouldn’t I be chasing girls rather than weeding and sowing butternut squash ?

Miss Grimsby

Very popular traffic wise and great to have stunning winner. Also very nice of Sian Gissing to leave a comment on this site - we all wish her well with the Miss England competition and her year as Miss Grimsby

A Cold Snap

Lewis Hamilton and Father

A bad driving week for the Hamilton’s. Father Anthony borrows a £300k Porsche and puts it through a hedge then his son drives into the back of Kimi Raikkonen whilst Kimi was stopped at a red light !

Food and What to Eat

Finding inspiration for what to eat is becoming tiresome and my diet, whilst varied, nice, interesting and healthy, is becoming a bit repetitive. Sadly I also have no crops to harvest from the garden, I already miss the roast parsnips

Inspiration for this Blog

I feel it used to be easier to write articles for the blog than it is now.
That makes sense as subjects and ideas diminish in availability with use. I did look back at the early articles to see how they compare to current ones. I was pleasantly surprised in as much as the later ones are better in general. Many of the early ones being very short - possibly why it felt easier !
Finding things of interest and balances all interests is really very difficult now

Some One-Line Cold Snaps

    Gordon Brown
Taxation (just paid a year’s tax in one go :( )
    Cost of Petrol
    Bookselling
    American webhosting companies
    RAC renewal attempted rip off
    etc etc

What’s giving you a face lift or getting under your skin ?

    The price of petrol.

Why can the government not see what is happening?

They put the price of petrol up on what feels like a daily basis. So taxis have to put their prices up, buses same, train same. So all in all, people have to spend more money to go to work. The 2% pay rise that most people get doesn’t even cover the way things are going.
So, more people are quitting their jobs as they just can’t afford to get there, bosses don’t (can’t) put the wages up to accommodate the rise in fuel.
So the government, who so want the unemployed back to work are infact making it more and more prohibitive for them to do so.

    It’s a crazy world

    you’re absolutely right !
They seem to forget that some people have to travel and unlike them do not get free chauffeur driven cars and travel expenses every time they want to go somewhere.

They also seem oblivious to the fact that when people travel for pleasure, days out etc, it generates money for businesses and local trade - it all helps to keep the wheels turning.
This is now happening less and less thus denying the likes of us a nice day out and putting subsequent shops and cafes etc out of business.

I believe the wheels have all but come off this country and it is only compounded by the fact that using your car, buying groceries and buying a modest home now appear to be luxuries rather than something any decent hard working person can do !

They need to come out of Whitehall and see what’s really happening in the country, especially to those without families !

    Re the price of petrol

Consider this, the government are not at all concerned about the price increases in fuel as this helps them to meet their environmental objectives without lifting a finger or the need to make politically disastrous decisions.

They can blame it on somebody else!

thanks fo rthe comments and welcome to the site !
I firmly believe that the government are not interested in green issues, they pay them lip service and attempts to meet quotas etc are just politcal rhetoric.

I think you’re right with the blame game as they see it as a tax raising opportunity that they can pretend is something other than just raising revenue.
They hide behind green issues much as they do behind health issues with duty on alcohol and cigarettes !
