The Goldeneye Near Death Experience

Your host has, not for the first time, had a near death experience this afternoon!
I was taking a pleasant pre-prandial stroll along a meandering river which runs past a golf driving range.
Minding my own business with my head firmly in the clouds I heard and felt something whistle not inches past my head.
A golf ball ! at full velocity.
I was surprised, to say the least. Not by the incident as such things happen on a daily basis to me but by the fact it missed.

I do not blame the golfist, arguably, it was, in some part, my own fault as I have been hit by a golf ball before. That time going past the Grimsby golf course.

I have preserved said item for posterity in the picture below, please note the backdrop, an extremely stylish ’stripey toed’ sock.
Happily, I remain the man I was and to avoid getting a complex (back on the horse etc) I shall walk the same route again this evening and we’ll see if the budding Nick Faldo’s have better luck this time.

This just sent to me - seems apt

Just read in the Times about Steve Wynn the Casino magnet who was about to sell a picasso for $74 million only to put his elbow through it!!!
    Now that’s unlucky!

    Rambo,

Where’s all the macho stuff gone eh? Just a little golf ball which Sly would have caught in his teeth and eaten as a snack. I think we’re going to have to revise your part in my movie and stick with the more sedate roles like Ted and Fifi, well perhaps not Ted.

Nice socks though …. do you wear sock suspenders? Just wondered ….. WoE

    WoE,
you’ll notice I remained not only unfazed by the experience but amused!
I risked life and limb once more by repeating route as I shall do so again in an hour or so.

I remain more than up to the role of Rambo though the recent loss of 50 man points has dented my credentials

I have no need for sock suspenders as they are perfectly tailored thereby requiring no assistance when it comes to remaining in place.

    Regards

Rod, I’ve taken out an insurance policy knowing that one day your credentials will get dented … not necessarily by a golf ball either! Tread carefully …… WoE

    WoE
a wise investment, carrying on the way I do and given the extraordinary things that seem to happen to me, insuring me sounds like a good move and one that should yield well.

I hope you do not have to wait too long to see a return
    Regards
