The Best of British and the Worst !

Christmas is a time of joint pleasure and misery ! If you’re really lucky then it’s all pleasure, if your just lucky then you get even doses of pain and pleasure and if you’re unlucky the whole thing is a misery.

Thankfully, the seasonal festivities impinge only slightly on your host so it’s fairly plain sailing for the SS Goldeneye which is more than can be said for those I see in town doing their christmas shopping - to a man they all look miserable - trudging about spending money they haven’t got !
So what’s been the current best and worst of it

Ho Ho Ho

Feeling Festive
I actually feel fairly festive this year which is quite pleasant
Reading
I’ve read 9 good books in the last 2 weeks
Social Eating
I enjoy the social side of sharing nice food - something I should do more of
River Cottage
I never tire of watching Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and I’m still enjoying some of my own produce

Ho Hum !

Xmas Shopping
Searching high and low to buy things nobody really wants
Finding Something to Read
I’ve got over 1,000 books on stock, the same number again awaiting processing and the same number again in my own collection ! How come I struggle find anything to read ?
Businesses in America
Trying to deal with Americans who think there is no other country in the world !
where’s my $1,000 and why can they not address an envelope properly ?
Not Getting Enough exercise
Missing the long walks and cycling trips
Still No Silence Followed By a deafening Roar Paul Gilbert DVD
I want to buy it Paul - just give me the chance, another week and I may request a download - I’ve waited long enough !

The final point that came to me thisweek in a rare moment of clarity was the realisation that I must actually be getting old - surely not all those who’ve seen my picture cry :)
Is my hair and or teeth falling out, am I getting unsteady on my feet, I am losing my adonis like physique

No none of the above I still look and feel the same as a mere stripling but …

You know you’re getting old when your house insurance is now more expensive than your car insurance :(
Regards to all
Rod
