The Best Motorhead Album Ever - Top 10 CDs
I’ve decided, whilst listening to the best band in the world, to try and come to a decision about the best album Motorhead have ever recorded and create a definitive Top Ten
It’s a tough call to do this and every time I look at the list I feel I could shuffle it about.
they have written some absolute classics and whilst hugely respected by a lot of musicians and a loyal worldwide fan base I still feel they are deserving of greater success and recognition.
Whilst having been a fan for over 25 years I still have to be honest and say they have blown hot and cold at times - but that’s enough of that.
I suspect many would put Ace of Spades at #1 but I love Bomber, it could have done with a better quality production job but the songs are epic, it‘s a fantastic record.
Inferno showed that the boys still have the ability to write an incredible album.
I liked Another Perfect Day when I bought the LP on the day of release and continue to feel the same, the negative response by some was ever a mystery to me.
Rock n Roll feels like a forgotten album to me but is fantastic - Just because You’ve Got the Power being one of their finest songs. Hands up if you remember the film Eat the Rich ?
My Top Ten Albums By Motorhead
1: Bomber
2: Ace of Spades
3: Inferno
4: Rock n Roll
5: Bastards
6: March or Die
7: Another Perfect Day
8: 1916
9: Motorhead
10: Hammered (for Brave New World if nothing else)
Watch the video for brave New World and see hard rock or heavy metal at it’s best with fantastic song writing and lyrics. If you want to watch a DVD then get Stage Fright the live DVD - one of the greatest live DVDs I’ve ever seen.
Let us know what your favourite albums by Motorhead are - leave a comment and let’s see over time if we can’t come to a consensus.
Feel free to share your comments and opinions below (on topic please)
Cheers

Rod,
Have you got a later release of ‘Rock n Roll’? because ‘Power’ isn’t on mine, it’s worth buying for ‘Traitor’ though.
As for dvd you’ve got to have ‘Everything Louder Than Everything Else’ just for Phil Taylor’s rant on ashtrays!!

Hamish,
great list !
If I were really honest, ignored heritage and my glory days, such as they were, I would have to agree that Inferno is their best record.
Cheers

Here’s my list:
Kiss of Death
No Sleep till Hammersmith
Ace of Spades
Bastards
Another Perfect Day
March or Die
Rock N Roll
Orgasmatron
Inferno
1916
It’s a bit hard to make a selection because taste varies a bit during all the years, but there’s one favorite I’d chose best live album of all times: No sleep til Hammersmith is awesome and a rare display of ingenuity in RnR.
By the way, Rod, does your avatar show Lynch’s angry dog?
Best

Textory,
thanks for the comment and welcome to the site.
You’ve hit the nail on the head with “It’s a bit hard to make a selection because taste varies a bit during all the years”
I suspect I could revise my list fairly regularly just based on my cureent “Motorhead Mood”
The picture is indeed Lynch’s Angry Dog Textory, you’re the first to actually metion it in a comment - evrybody else just wonders what it is and what it means
Cheers

Bomber is the essential Motorhead album, better than Ace Of Spades or at least equal to it….Dead Men Tell No Tales, Lawman, Sharpshooter, the title track….Awesome!
