Tank ~ Rock Band - 1980s Heavy Metal NWOBHM \m/

Tank - Hard Rock Band
I’m strolling down memory lane here going back to my youth and wishing I still had my hair - hair all the way down my back that is - thankfully it’s all still there just short and sensible :(
The journey went further as I fished out the props for the picture to illustrate this article

To paraphrase The Fast Show
Today, I’ve Been Mostly Listening to Tank
What a great band ! As I recall, they initially came to my attention because their debut album, Filth Hounds of Hades, was produced by Fast Eddie Clarke - lead guitarist with the mighty Motorhead at the time.
I then saw them live . . . wait for it . . . 26 years ago I believe !
You’ll see the ticket below, they were support to Motorhead, complete with my original albums Filth Hounds of Hades and The Power of the Hunter also note the vital addition for any Motorhead aficionado - The Bullet Belt

Tank Heavy Metal Hard Rock Group

Memory Lane

I had to get some of the music here as well, check out the YouTube job below.
It’s raw and earthy - gets even better the more you listen it.
It’s Hard Rock in genre, or Heavy Metal if you prefer, but there’s a punk-like resonance, attitude and feel to it - no pretence and pretends to be nothing other than what it is - just bloody good rock music.
The Tank line up at the time was

Algy Ward - Bass and Vocals
    Mark Brabbs - Drums
    Peter Brabbs - Guitar

As I type this He Fell in Love with a Stormtrooper is just coming to an end which means it’s back to track 1 to listen again !

I simply cannot believe, in deed I refuse to accept, that I’m going back over a quarter of a century - I can’t be that old ! OK, I must be, I’m looking at another concert ticket (cost £4.50) for Motorhead in 1982 - 27 years ago

I need to find out whether Tank are still on the go, are they touring, if so what are the tour dates, do they have a new album out - well one of those little shiny silver round things anyway.
If you were around for the so called, and hugely influential, New Wave of British Heavy Metal ( NWOBHM ) then I’m sure you’ll remember Tank but if you are a bit young but still a fan of the genre then do check Tank out - they’re solid - as the name implies !

Here’s Struck By Lightning - it’s not a video just the music - I ask you all listen to it even if you’re not keen on Heavy Rock, if you are listen to it several times - you know it makes sense.
Let me know what you think - if you were there and remember then then share the memories

Here’s to Tank - wherever you are and whatever you’re doing - thanks for the memories and the legacy which still stands up today
Awesome
Rod

    Rod,
Awesome! I’ve got a cd waiting on back order. They were together again recently and I’m sure they had an album out in the 2000’s.

    Hi,
Did you hear anymore about Tank? Are they still touring? I Googled ‘Tank gigs’ and got something about a Thomas the Tank Engine event… close, but no cigar!!!

    Andrew,
I believe they’re playing a festival in Wales this Summer. Go on MySpace, they’re on there with links to merchandising etc.
    Hope that helps.

    Rod!

“hair all the way down my back that is “
I’m sure that is enough about your hairy back……second thoughts, it doesn’t do anything for me but I suppose it may please the ladies; just don’t let it go any further or you could lower the tone. ;)

    Regards,
    Neville

I remember when Filth… came out and when Power… came out. They were both excellent albums. We used to go cruising with them blaring. “Walking barefoot over glass” was one of my favs. Boy, I really miss those times!
