					<description>WoE
I've been saying for a few years now that ballot papers here should carry a box marked
None of the above
I'm serious as well, it would send them all a message and also give people such as myself, who no longer bothers to vote, a chance to show I'm not indifferent !

Don't get me started on councillors ...
Much like school governors and the like they're simply just people who fancied a go at it for whatever reason - no ability needed !

My only comfort is that my life being as it is - very little of what they do really affects me.
I feel for future generations but they'll just have to make their own way !
Here's to the future

					<description>Rod,

We hate to say it, but these days we've no idea who to vote for. At the end of the day they all seem to go back on their promises one way or another. We have an awful feeling that global politics have sort of melded into one blob so it doesn't matter who we vote for, it all amounts to the same thing ultimately.

Taxes and the like ought to be set along the lines of fitting a kitchen, that way we could all grasp it :) For a start the kitchen seller will ask an individual how much he or she wants to spend.... since not many people want to spend anything on taxes we shouldn't pursue this line of questioning perhaps..... anyway, each unit is costed plus add-on's like worktop etc. If the public vote against the double fronted fridge, then single it be :) Are you with us so far? With our new method it should be easy to find out who's prepared to pay what for say, educational hotplates or health service pull out drawers. The immigration larder is a hot potato and we would like to know who makes the decisions and what deals are struck between various countries. We witches are great believers in the fact that secret deals are being struck all the time and that if the public knew what was going on behind closed patio doors, they'd be storms in tea cups :)

Many years ago we had the misfortune to meet a committee of county councillors who didn't look like they should be in charge of a bingo hall let alone a county.... from that moment on the great mystery of how much talent a governing body has to have, became clear alas. Still, perhaps things have changed now and dynamic, honest and fair minded people are in charge? :)

&lt;i&gt;How can the people in government not see what we all see?&lt;/i&gt;
that's a very good point and one that confuses me.
I wonder how many others have noticed that you can no longer have a political argument in this country.
A few years ago put a few people together and start discusing the general state of things and you could get debate or argument from the differing opiions - nowadays the people on the street all seem to agree and have the same opinions !

Politicians though seem oblivious to it - what is more confusing is the fact they don't pay attention to the people if for no other reason than to curry favour and improve their electoral chances !
All the best

					<description>Rod,

How can the people in government not see what we all see? Wouldn't it be great to have the whole cabinet in your front room to answer direct questions like this.... no wonder people in general don't trust politicians.

					<description>Rod,
Well said, we get it so wrong in this country pumping money into eyesores like the Millenium Dome yet send our troops to Iraq without the proper equipment. The case of the Ghurkhas having to appeal to the High Court for the same recognition as an office based member of the Forces who has never seen action boils my blood. We don't deserve them.
