More Fake Funnies . . .

Now, not many dealers are lucky enough to have a signed Ian Fleming UK first edition so imagine how fortunate you’d have to be to have TWO in stock - at the same time

It would of course be more exciting had the actually been signed by the author, collectors are funny like that, they do seem to prefer books that are said to be signed by the author to have actually been signed by the author

The delicious thing here is, this American seller is offering two signed books at the same time on eBay, seemingly oblivious to the fact that the signatures don’t look remotely like each other let alone Fleming’s

You can have the pair for £3,000 btw.

Here’s another laughable fake from eBay:
An American seller (1,500 feedback) claims . . .
James Bond Creator On Holiday In Italy Signed Ian Fleming ‘’007′’ 1959

Wonderful provenance, there is a slight problem, apart from the signature being utterly fake of course, that specific edition hadn’t even been printed in 1959 nor indeed 1958 which the seller claims is the publication date !

Hi Rod,
Two items came up for sale that merit some attention. They were on ebay for two days with COA to help smooth out any concerns a buyer may have!! They were 150754746872 and 150754734778. US edition of Casino and Dr No. The signature looked suspiciously like another I saw previously on ebay that looks like Hewy Hmong.

if by ‘note cards’ you mean bits of paper etc with a signature on that have either been stuck in a book or just laid in then they are just as likely to be genuine or fake as a signed book.
Generally they are simply cut from letters and the like, quite why people stick them in books I’ve never known, my view is that your defacing the book - the idea of a signed book is that the author signed it . . .

Hi everyone,

Great website Rob, I’ve only just recently started collecting first editions. When I say collecting, I currently have none but am on the look out .

I was wondering whats the deal with the note cards. On quite a few books I’ve seen Ian Flemings signature on a note card, on some books the note card wasn’t attached on others it was stuck in the book, I assumed all these were fake and that people has actually had the cheek to just get Ian Flemings signatured forged onto a piece of card and place it in. But then I noticed on a couple of posts that you were talking of these as though they are legit so I was just hoping you could clarify what the deal is with these note cards.
