Presumably extremes of anything can cause problems and situations at school and later in life. I was never tall enough quickly enough to cause any clothing problems. I do now have the problem that's well documented on this site and that is buyiung trousers. Nobody locally does a long leg below a 32" waist, they do them for every size 32 upward but not below - only short or medium leg. I may suffer from SMS myself soon as I've shrunk. I think that probably is the point in my experience, the only people that do actually care about their height are the people themselves hence the ’syndrome’ I guess.

Personally it means nothing to me how short or tall somebody is so I think it’s like many psychological issues, that is to say largely in the mind of the person themselves.
