Rod Collins Bigger than the Spice Girls Redux
Rod Collins is Bigger then the Spice Girls Revisited
Revisiting a previous post, proof positive that I am bigger than the Spice Girls ![]()
OK, so we all laughed, well I hope we did !, when I wrote Bookseller Bigger than the Spice Girls but lest you ever doubt me or suspect a kid you gentle reader - I present further evidence…
The single has been such a disappointment, sold only 6,000 copies apparently, that fans are flogging off their tickets on ebay.
Scalpers I hear you say, with all the tickets selling out in minutes they are cashing in and profiteering. Err … No they’re selling in some cases for £40 below face value
It’s all a bit embarrassing but is it surprising ?
As I remember they were always seen as something of a joke to everyone other than 10 year girls.
Quite how we got to the point of a ‘legendary’ band reforming for a reunion tour a la Led Zeppelin I’ll never know - whatever the reason it was genius marketing, sadly now the bubble seems to have burst.
Given this, I can gauge my potential popularity on the world stage.
I think I may do a world tour myself, the act will consist of me speaking words of wisdom in a raconteurish (new word) fashion , such as is writ large and in abundance here on a daily basis, and all free of charge dear reader, with intervals of awesome full shred lead guitar playing.
Think Peter Ustinov meets Paul Gilbert !
I think I’ll go down a storm, after all, if more people are reading this blog than buying the Spice Girls single how can I fail
If you want to see me I’ll be appearing at a quality venue near you.
If you’re worried about not spotting me fear not, I’ll be the one wearing chick jeans with Henri Lloyd Transglobes and carrying an Ibanez Steve Vai Guitar, unmissable, as will be the performance !
Remember culture seekers and music lovers, book early to avoid disappointment and if you’re too late and it’s sold out try and buy a ticket on e bay ![]()
Have a Great Weekend

LB,
The Witches will get complimentary tickets and yes we’ll be there if only to hear the shredded guitar. Up to now he’s been unwilling to busk in Covenville so we only have his word …. what a waste of time, by now the Witches with careful tuition, could have challenged his alleged supremacy!
Word is he’s fed up with chick jeans and sees himself in the very difficult to carry off, pencil skirt

Rod,
A hand knitted Peruvian folk sweater, that’s what you need… besides it might give you a more muscular look… we’ve asked them to include shoulder pads, ‘but that’s so 80’s’ they said, ’so get on with it’ we said, ‘it’ll remind him of when he was at his best’

p.s. notice Rod, how we go from Spice Girls to hand knitted folk art

make sure it’s close knit, I don’t want any draughts.
There’s no rush though as I have a particularly fine Bart Simpson Fleece Blanket !

Update from US News:
The Spice Girls have played to a large number of empty seats at their comeback show in Las Vegas.
Reports claim that nearly half of the seats in the Mandalay Arena were unoccupied when the girl group took to the stage last night
