Red Arrows Proud to Be British or Ashamed

If anything sums up the pathetic politically correct state of this country this does !

Why Can’t the English Be Proud to Be English

I’ve long puzzled over why the Scots can be proud to be Scottish, the Welsh proud to be Welsh and the Irish proud to be Irish yet the English cannot do the same - indeed it’s regarded as racist !

Well this takes the British biscuit:

The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing at the 2012 London Olympics because they are deemed “too British”

It beggars belief - what’s wrong with these bloody idiots. A small minority of morons appear to hold sway over the majority and common sense.
What’s the official reason for this crock ?

Organisers of the event say that the Arrows military background might be “offensive” to other countries taking part in the Games.

The Red Arrows are renowned throughout the world. They’ve flown the flag for this country all over the world. Not only wowing the crowds with their astonishing skill but boosting trade and reinforcing the image of our engineering and aviation history.
Who the hell has ever seen the Red Arrows and thought … this offends me ?
Answer: Nobody !
What do people feel when the see them ? … A sense of awe and amazement

This should be celebrated !
I thought every host country celebrated it’s tradition and heritage ?

Oh, that’s right, they do - it’s just us that can’t !

This country is simply spiralling downwards and screams for some strong leadership and commonsense.
All this PC bull that keeps being spouted is supported by nobody I’ve ever met.
Talk to everyone you know and they all agree on the same things - the whole country broadly agrees on much yet politicians lack the courage to stand up and echo the voice of the people.
Instead preferring to nod like lap-dogs to some pathetic think-tank-pressure group or a council group from Hackney or the likes.

Let’s celebrate what we’ve done and what we do - it’s nothing to be ashamed of.
At least we have a once great country to look back on - what legacy are we leaving our children and grandchildren to look back on and be proud ?

The Red Arrows should do us all a favour, do some formation flying and drop some bombs on the cretins who come up with this garbage !

I could understand this if it was a fly past by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, but the Red Arrows aren’t a military wing, they are an aeronautics display team!

Better make sure that Kelly Holmes doesn’t go, as it might offend the countries’ who’s runners she beat?

    precisely !
    Bloody ludicrous.
You make a good point about Kelly Holmes, better hide her away and while we’re at it that Ellen Macarthur is a disgrace to the country better not be proud of her !

We’ll make sure Ranulph Fiennes is out of the country as well, just to be sure.
No need to worry about what official cars to use though, we’ve lost all that !

    Rod,
I spent 7 years on the Red Arrows over two tours. I know that the story of the Reds not appearing at the Olympic ceremony is nothing short of a Red Herring. I agree that this country does not do enough to celebrate its Englishness and that the PC Police are waiting around every corner. In this instance, this has not been the case and has been a spoof to rev up the anti-PC crowd. As for Craigs comment, I’m affraid you are wrong. The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team The Red Arrows (RAFAT) are part of the RAF, manned by regular serving Men & women who regularly have people deployed to Afgan’ as well as Iraq previously. The Pilots are all regular Military fast jet pilots with 3000 hrs fast jet experience including time as a display or demonstration pilot. Once they have completed their 3 year tour, they are returned to Operational flying posts.
The benefits harvested by UK PLC are immense from using RAFAT for its promotional tours. Many contracts (non Military related) are arranged on the back of a succesful visit to their Country. Whilst I was on the team we had 3 tours with upto 14 countries visited in 15 days, sounds good but boy is it tiring.
As for the Olympics, watch this space. Strategic Defence review held off the axe for a while yet!

    Option,
thanks for the insight - not only fascinating but also illuminating.
Perhaps one of the best things about this site is the comments we get from those actually ‘in the know’ as it were.
I and everybody who read these comments learn so much.

    Thanks and regards
