PG Wodehouse Signed First Edition on Ebay
We return once again to that fertile hunting ground, for those seeking amusement rather than rare books, ebay!
As an aside, thanks to those sending auctions in.
Having dealt in PG Wodehouse, collected first editions for years, also built a website devoted exclusively to the great man himself, we have a little experience in this field.
Rare books, first editions, signed copies can be a tricky field. Identifying genuine signatures is really a job for an expert in the field, maybe even a graphologist.
Well now, here is your chance to try your luck, take a wild guess, a stab in the dark if you will, become an expert in the field of rare books and first editions!
Here is an authentic example from my website
And here is an example from ebay (in the gallery and offered by a powerseller)
The choice I leave to you, please do not worry if your eye is not expert enough to make an informed judgement

Rod, may I ask if Michael Bond signatures pop up regularly? A friend of mine worked for the family for many years and managed to obtain one for me. Many thanks, Lyn

This auction continues to remain live and now has three bidders, but look what the seller has now added at the bottom (looks like others are on to hin as well)
not shut it down mind!
I wonder how many bidders will spot it
On 21-May-06 at 17:07:17 BST, seller added the following information:
PLEASE NOTE I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THIS SIGNATIRE MAY NOT BE P G WODHOUSE

Update
the auction closed at £53.78
So clearly enough people realised the SP, that leaves the winning bidder thinking he has got a real bargain and how great ebay is!

Rod,
I have two authentic signatures of P.G. Wodehouse on a letter and a post card that were mailed to me by the author in response to letters I wrote to him, one dated 21 October 1974 and the other 1 August 1974. Before reading any of the comments on your blog I compared my signatures and determined that the one on the book was fake.
