Paul Gilbert DVD Silence Followed By a Deafening Roar Instructional
Goldeneye guitar hero and king of shred Paul Gilbert has made your host a happy man today with news that the guitar maestro is polishing off a new DVD called
Paul Gilbert Silence Followed By a Deafening Roar Guitar Instructional DVD and Shred Annex
It sounds as though the main thrust of it will follow the route of Get Out of My Yard DVD in as much it will contain all the best guitar parts, licks and riffs etc with Pablo demonstrating how to play them whilst he wrings the life out of an Ibanez PGM 301.
This new DVD will also have some extras though including tablature, rare live tracks and downloadable backing tracks - it already sounds beyond awesome !
There is just one other thing our favourite fret melter tantalisingly refers to which set the Goldeneye mouth salivating - something called the Shred Annex - woah baby !
It’s due for release soon but for those of you who are chomping at the bit here is a review
Goldeneye Review
“But you’ve not even seen it yet” is the cynical cry from those who play chords ![]()
Don’t need to - I know it’s going to be stunning !
Let’s hope it get a worldwide release, no Japanese imports please or US versions that won’t play on my DVD player ![]()
I know it is well beyond PG’s control but let’s hope the price is OK as well, a music shop near me (Linconshire in the UK) was retailing Get Out of My Yard at £42 ($84) the maestro probably gets about a couple of dollars out of that with the gouging retailers and distributors taking the rest.
That said the number of times I’ve watched the following:
-
Terrifying Guitar Trip
Get Out of My Yard
Intense Rock I & II
Spaceship Live
Eleven Thousand Notes
They would have been good value at £100 each !
All this guitar talk has got me in the mood for a hot and steamy night of action ![]()
Sadly that means having the fire on full whilst smoking, drinking and shredding and wrestling with Colorado Bulldog !
Can I really watch Terrifying Guitar Trip yet again ?
Errrrr … yes I can ! And I will !
Wheel it on Pablo wheel it on !
Happy Shredding
Rod
Update
A Japanese retail site is quoting a release date of 20 August 2008 !

Rod,
Do you have padded walls…. it’s just that we feel a bit sorry for any neighbours putting up with shredding, wrestling and Colorado Bulldog
WoE
p.s. ditch the smoking for good and increase the wrestling…. big Bertha from the Coven says she’d take you on at arm wrestling only it might damage your nimble shredding fingers and your pride

WoE
Do you have padded walls
I ought to have but not for soundproofing !
Do not feel sorry for my neighbours as they really like me - this may be based on the fact that my neighbours rarely see me though
Best

nice web site… Did you get a release date for the DVD? Last I heard it was delayed? I don’t have a problem with Japan releases direct from Japan… it’s when you buy them in the UK it’s a problem!

Hi Laurie
thanks for the comment and welcome to the site, I’m not aware of any release date as yet I’m afraid.
To return the compliment, your site Truth in Shredding (what a geat name) is great.
For those unaware click on Laurie’s name in his comment to check it out.
Cheers
Rod

Update
Paul’s website says it will be released soon yet play.com have it and stock. Amazon UK don’t have it on stock.
3 reviews on Play are reporting problems, they claim there to be no backing tracks or cannot get the promised guitar tab.
Not sure what’s going on at the time of writing - just a heads up really.

I got my DVD from Paul Gilbert himself at a clinic, and the tablature and backing tracks is missing too… But it’s an awesome DVD, no doubt at all. It would just be an inch better if it worked properly :p

Oliver
thanks for the comment, really appreciated. I’m jealous of you being at a clinic !
It’s annoying because I’m waiting to buy it, all I need to know is
Is this a fault with the first batch that will be rectified or will there no longer be backing tracks and tab ?
Thanks again Oliver
All the best

Hi again Rod,
Apparently it was only a fault on the first print of the DVD in Europe, and it has been fixed on every other DVD since 10/03/08.
But to those who unfortunately got one of these, there’s a link on Paul’s website where it can be downloaded.
Cheers, good luck with your DVD’s.
Oliver.

Does anybody have a direct link for the tab / backing tracks? I’m one of the unfortunate people who ended up without either on their DVD, and as many times as I’ve seen people saying “download it from his website”, I can find bugger all (possibly mainly due to the site being designed by Mr. Gilbert himself. Guitar = good, web-design = not so great).

Hi Didgrile
I’m afraid I don’t know, perhaps someone else may be able to chime in.
I’ve finally been told my DVD is at long last on it’s way, it was delayed yet again but hopefullu it’ll be here this week
