No More Negative Feedback for Buyers on eBay
Sellers will no longer be able to leave negative feedback for buyers on ebay
In an extraordinary move the online auction company is removing the ability of those that sell on it’s site to leave negative feedback for buyers.
Customers can still leave negative feedback for sellers but you if you sell and get a non paying bidder for example you will not be able to warn others.
The system has always been open to ‘blackmail’ with bidders holding people to ransom with the threat of a big red neg’ - something which will now surely get worse once they realise the same cannot be done to them.
A spokesperson for eBay claims that the reason for the decision is that most times the negative feedback for the buyer is unjustified and it ‘frightens them off the site’ never to return !
The whole thing is ridiculous but I do see one positive.
There are not enough neutral and negatives left for sellers, mainly because people fear a reciprocal. Now they are free from this they may perhaps leave a more honest response which will start to show up the kind of sellers that have really damaged customer confidence on the site.
The above holds some comfort in some areas, books tend to be fairly cosy with buyers not quite as moronic as those in other categories.
I suspect it’s going to be a living nightmare for those selling DVDs and computer spares etc.
Good Luck - You’re Going to Need it !
