thanks for the interesting comment, much appreciated.
Just one point, there’s no suggestion here that the bridge is connected to the abbey rather that the abbey is connected to the bridge in-so-much as the stone monks could once have been part of the original abbey

i was swimming in the lake when i was young and i witnessed the head of the monk being broken off by shaun young of immingham, i was about 12 so it was 23 years ago, i have asked him since about it but he doesnt remember it. shame, but i think the bridge isnt connected with the monks but was built as part of brock country park by capability brown in the late 19th century.it was such a magical place to swim back in the day as u probably remember, crystal clear spring water with fresh water mussels AND MOZZIES THE SIZE OF COWS

it seems to have died off around the time of the Plauge as did Roxton however the Tavern remaind into the 17th century, and in its day was certainly frequented by the canons and the monks of all the abbeys in our area..
