Miss Grimsby 2008 All the Girls

After wondering what was going on for a while we have finally been put out of our misery.
Here are pictures of all the final 12 girls competing for the title of …
Miss Grimsby and District 2008

Winner Announced - our article here

As we mentioned last year in the 2007 competition we are all in favour of it. No politically correct nonsense, the girls want to do it and it promotes the area etc - everybody has a great time and nobody is the worse off for it.

Jade Dundridge was the winner last year and carried the role off with style and class. Hopefully everybody in the area appreciates her efforts and we hope she had a great time.
Speaking personally, I do have one regret and that is that JD was not at work on the day of the chick jeans, read the comments as well if you check it out

Anyway, enough of all this, here are the final 12 young ladies

Vote for Your Favourite
It is now up to the girls to promote themselves locally and garner as many votes and as much public support as possible. This will then lead to to a Top 5 shoot out which will be a combination of the public vote and a panel of suitable judges, quite why I’m not on the panel I don’t know ;) . Voting info can be obtained on the Miss England website.

To All the Girls and Their Supporters
If you are one of the babes featured above and see this then please feel free to leave a comment below.
Friends, family members and supporters can also leave a comment supporting their favourite for the title.

Grimsby Telegraph - Evening Telegraph
Last year we were somewhat disappointed at the interest shown by the local organ !
At the time of writing I don’t believe it the above has even made the local paper - we’ve scooped you :)
Whilst it was covered last it was skimpy at best (pun intended)
Hopefully this year they will support it, both now and throughout the year, a bit more and bring us something nice instead of the usual ASBO guff.

MySpace - Bebo - Facebook etc
If any of the girls have pages on any of the social networking websites they can add a link if the leave a comment

Finally
We would like to wish all the girls the best of luck and may the best one win.
We are picking no favourites on this site, cowardly I know but even-handed.
This page will be updated as and when new information becomes available and as the contest progresses.
Once again thanks to Jade Dundridge for being a great 2007 winner and for participating in this site.

If you are featured above and would like to leave a comment, perhaps telling us a little more about yourself and your campaign please feel free to do so

Good Luck and All the Best
Rod

    Update:
the public vote is well under way with the top three listed below along with the numbers of votes:

    Sian Gissing 372
    Leoni Lane 301
    Jade Clay 235

It’s obviously looking good for SG, although this year I am a little confused as to the actual location of some of the contestants as they don’t all appear to be from this area.
    Possibly they were originally ??
    Voting ends 2nd June

    Hi Holly
thanks for taking the time to comment and welcome to the site, I hope you’ll return.
I notice you’re already doing very well in the public vote though it still seems like there is a lack of local support from the Evening Telegraph, I’m not aware that they’ve even featured it :(

Best of luck with the contest, keep us appraised, I reckon you’re through to the next round ;)
    Regards
    Rod

    Update:
there is no confirmation on the official site at the time of writing but according to their terms voting has closed and the final 5 with the most votes are:

hi…. like most people i am pleased tht there is aactually some one who is payin interest in something positive that is happenin in grimsby.
i have taken part in the last two years and neither of them were publicised. i dont see how the public are ment to know wots going on to vote for the girls or for other girls to take part.

i think it needs to be published in the paper for girls who dont know aboutit to take part. i also feel that there should be an event. i have taken part in a few beauty pageants in which i have done well in and they have all had a show.

you get to meet the other girls to get to know them and also have a fun day and its a great experience unlike takin part in miss grimsby. it poorly organised and there nothin exciting to do whilst takin part other than gettin people to vote for you.

ther should be something for the girls to take part. even if u dont win or get placed u still have a great time and its an experience in which u will never forget and ive made lots of friends takin part in pageants.

there is also one more thing tht i think they should have and tht is a panel of judges. i dnt believe in the voting it should be traditional and you should have to prove yourself to judges. i took part in one pageant tht was exactly like tht , it envovled no voting and it was the best experience i have had. it felt less of a competition and more fun.

keep up the good work on supporting the girls who take part in competition.
    thank you x

    Hi Jade
thanks for leaving a comment and welcome to the site, hope you’ll return.
Great to hear from somebody who actually has taken part in the contests and I have to say I agree totally with you.

They could make a big deal of the whole thing in the Grimsby Telegraph and other local media outlets. It’s something positive, a bit of fun does nobody any harm at all.
It’s also very popular as many 1,000s of people have looked at these pages

What really annoys me Jade is that if you wore a hoodie instead of that red dress and threw a brick through a shop window they’d put you on the front page of the paper !
The local paper seems to wallow in misery and seems bent ona mission to portray only negative aspects of the town.

Hopefully next year will be better - I doubt it but we can only hope
I shall certainly be doing another feature on this site so I’ll do my own bit.
Best of luck with everything Jade and hope to see you in the next one
    All the best

i totally agree with you, with your comment on me being put on the front page if i was a “thug” its rediculous.!!!

im glad your supporting the girls who take part and i woudl like to wish the best of luck to any one who takes part in a beauty pageant and that they shoudl enjoy the experience and dont get to caught up and serious with it. takin part and havin fun is the best bit. if it was published like we keep sayin the experience woudl be a whole lot better.

once again thank you and keep up the good and positive work for all the girls.

    Hi Amy,
thanks for taking the time to comment - much appreciated.
I am going to be doing an article on this years 2009 contest - just waiting for the applications to close.

Thanks for the heads up about the two competitions. I assumed that the winner of MGT went on to be Miss GY - I’ve checked both sites out and it seems a little ambiguous as to what is actually happening.

Best of luck Amy and I hope to be featuring you soon
    All the best
