Merry Christmas from Lincolnshire

Merry Christmas from Lincolnshire !
I should like to take this opportunity to wish you Season Greetings and Best Wishes
And also to . . .

Thank everybody for visiting the site - it is appreciated, record numbers this year - quite staggering and indeed humbling in some cases

I hope you’re all prepared and getting ready to celebrate Mithras and the sun God Sol Invictus on the 25th of December (if it’s Jesus’ birthday you want to celebrate you’ve got the wrong day ;) - don’t blame me the Council of Nicea decided it in 325 AD it was their idea not mine :twisted: )

Either way it’s a good excuse for a beano so let your hair down, if you’ve got any, put some Sabaton on the gramophone, get your turkey dinner for one in the microwave and let the festivities begin !

Traditionally I rewrite my Last Will and Testament on Christmas Day (yes I actually do) it’s a good time to review people’s performance over the year and decide whether they’re in or out, up or down in the inheritance stakes - I even did this online once :roll: along with a countdown of the day

There will be little in the way of festivities here at the Goldeneye Grotto, an early decision on the decorations mean they’re still in the attic - no lengthy deliberations this year. Also no personalized cards for our male and female readers this year !

We may seem a little slack this year in festive areas compared to the past, was it really 3 years ago when you-know-who wrote about his Xmas preparations and even answered comments !
With such slackness to detail in mind I went out, in sub-zero temperatures I might add, and took this picture of Town Holt which is just behind my house

Season’s Greetings

Whatever you’re doing and whomsoever you’re doing it with I wish you the very best in whatever terms you choose- be it Happy Christmas, Happy Holidays or Merry Mithramas :) - whatever your bag have a good one !

Very Best Wishes
Rod

    Oh Good!

    No decs for me either…Bah humbug!

    Hope you include me in your will this year Rod. As a little sweetener, as I know you appreciate good food, I’m offering you my special Christmas Cake recipe…..

    Ingredients:

    * 2 cups flour
    * 1 pack butter
    * 1 cup of water
    * 1 tsp baking soda
    * 1 cup of sugar
    * 1 tsp salt
    * 1 cup of brown sugar
    * Lemon juice
    * 4 large eggs

    * Nuts
    * 1 bottle claret
    * 2 cups of dried fruit

    Sample the claret to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the claret again. To be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink. Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add one teaspoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point it’s best to make sure the claret is still OK. Try another cup… Just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2 eggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.

    Pick the frigging fruit up off floor. Mix on the turner.. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the claret to check for tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something. Check the claret. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar, or some fink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don’t forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window. Finish the claret and wipe work surface with the cat.

    Bingle Jells! :)

    Neville,
    that’s exactly how I’d be making it ;)
    There is no ingredient in the world which cannot be substituted for a bottle of claret !

    You could well make the will Neville, the question is do I make fresh provision for you or do I chop somebody else and give you their share ?
    Cheers
    Rod
