Kelly Reilly or DC Anna Travis a Guilty Pleasure
Kelly Reilly is a stunner !
I’m not one for TV generally but I’m watching the latest series of Above Suspicion and I’ve got what’s called - I believe - a Guilty Pleasure
There’s something about Kelly Reilly when she’s playing the part of DC Anna Travis in Above Suspicion that’s well . . . you know . . .
It’s hard to define, she seems stunning to me but not conventionally so in terms of glamorous film and TV women. The part she’s playing, Anna Travis based on the books by Lynda La Plante, is solid but not exactly a screen siren so . . . I don’t know . . . you tell me.
Just what is it that makes her seem so different and special ?
She’s also 33 at the time of writing so I can no longer be accused of only looking at 20 year olds !
I’ve also looked the term Guilty Pleasure up in the urban dictionary and it is an accepted phenomenon when used in this sense so it must be something fairly widespread.
I understand some of the older female newsreaders feature heavily in this but I can’t comment on that because I’ve never seen the news read by a girl - the last time I saw the news Reginald Bosanquet read it
It seems women are more likely to have these less than obvious attractions and reading some of the lists are nothing if not strange.
Remember when I wrote about Jeremy Clarkson being a sex symbol for example.
Perhaps it’s because men are more visually biased therefore things seem more obvious and easy to explain normally
Possibly it’s time to create a couple of definitive lists one of men and one of women that are secretly fancied when they are perhaps less than obvious sex symbols.
I’ll need to do further research and watch the last episode tonight, if I need a further fix I understand she’s in Guy Ritchie’s new Sherlock Holmes film playing the wife of Watson Mary Morstan, I’ve prejudged the film of course some time ago without the need to see it but perhaps it now beckons, well on DVD.
Regular viewers will also note the tasteful and classy shot of Kelly Reilly she’s not wearing a thong or bikini but a sensible white blouse and pencil skirt - perhaps I’m getting old

Rod,
What a fab line, Guilty Pleasure
I too have a couple of guilty pleasures and i am not sure why,
but it is Simon Cowell (not for his money) and Patrick Mcguiness.
Neither one is stunningly handsome, but as you say, there is just something about them

FF,
I had to look Patrick Mcguiness up - he’s the one from Max & Paddy !
Perhaps Simon Cowell has that mysterious X-Factor (sorry about that)
Regards

Hi Rod,
I think she has a look of Julia Roberts?
Everybody has a wierd list! Piers Morgan, Gordon Ramsey & not forgetting the baldy guys Vin Diesel!
You are right, I have been advised by my friends that some of the guys that I have dated have been ugly, but I seem to find something else in that person that makes them extremely interesting/atractive (more than visual!).
Where if I ask the ugly guys I have dated what type of woman they would settle for, their expectations where extremely high hence they are still single!
Maybe women are more realistic in thier expectations of a partner than men?
Maybe you should have found a pic of Kelly Riely in a thong then we could have had something to point out that was wrong! Maybee you are getting old!

Emma,
do you think men are more bothered by looks in their partner ?
I’d tend to think most people would say so but I think they’re more likely to admit it as well.
I would concede men are more ‘visual creatures’
I think looks are important as so often they are our only chance of meeting someone different. We judge each other in a split second - just think how many great relationships have been lost simply because either or both parties didn’t ‘fancy’ the other in 0.8 seconds !
Personally, I would have preferred to have been born rich rather than devilishly handsome but we can’t pick and choose can we
I took medical advice and avoided looking for pictures of Anna Travis in lingerie Emma - it could all prove too much
Cheers

Hi Rod. I am afraid I have to confess to having a real thing for Kelly Reilly too. I can get exactly where you are coming from about her looks, yes, she is no supermodel, she doesn’t have stunning looks, but there is just “something” about her that grabs your attention and makes you fall in love with her! There are not many people in life who have this hidden power, but some do have this magic “aura” that is impossible to put into words, but Kelly is definitely one of those lucky people, and I would make her Mrs F.D tomorrow if I could.
