Kate Winslett Airbrushed and Naked Again ?

The Airbrushing of Kate Winslett
It actually sounds the like title of a costume drama she might appear in !
Well she’s had her picture taken wearing nothing but stockings and high heels whilst laying on a fur rug - guess what
It’s generated comment - shock - horror

Kate Winslett was behind the first big expose of airbrushing cover models after photo shoots. In her case she was slimmed off and had her legs lengthened I believe.
Kate Winslett with no make up on
This is what she looks like ‘for real’ - walking down the street.
Nothing to write home about frankly but that’s beside the point. She claimed outrage at being altered and became something of a poster girl (pun intended) for so-called ‘real women’ .

Now she is outraged once again at claims that the latest photographs for the magazine Vanity Fair have also been airbrushed.

Well we’ve got one of them - make your own mind up

Airbrushed ?

Is Airbrushing Acceptable
It is suggested that this sort thing puts undue pressure on young girls and causes no end of problems. I think it’s a stretch to say it has that sort of power but I see two sides.

1: As the fashion and glamour business is all about the manipulation of image, making somebody look as good as possible by way of make up, clothing and lighting etc then is it wrong to use technology to push it further ?
After all - does it matter that much - so it could be regarded as acceptable

2: Making something look as good as possible is one thing but deliberately manipulating something into something it is not is another.
As these sort of pictures are all about promotion and the selling of something then if you did it to actual goods then you would fall foul of advertising regulations.

My opinion is that when you see a picture which claims to be something then that is what it should be.
The model concerned should actually have looked like that when the snap was taken.
Anything else is pure deception

Opinions on this crucially important subject are welcomed !

    Rod,
What’s the point? This causes much debate in the photography world. I don’t mind image manipulation when it doesn’t pretend to be anything other and there are some very clever images out there. My photographs get the bare minimum done to them, if the sky isn’t blue enough then I don’t care because I want the photograph to reflect the day I took it. This does nothing for her image as a serious actress, she looks eighteen and in my view it smacks of hypocrisy given her previous comments.
She should stick to the day job, there are thousands of young women out there who look like that naturally so why try and compete when she has such a gift for acting. She is attractive enough in her own right with plenty of admiring men if that’s what drives her.

I would imagine it’s an issue in the photography world - after all as the technology gets better we’ll be in a situation of not knowing what is real !
A bit like blue screens and the movies.

Your other point about why she would do it is also a mystery to me. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it and I understand the wish to look as sexy as possible but when you are always complaining about not being taken seriously as an actress and going on about the press talking about her weight and looks …
Well, it seems a strange plan to deal with it
“I know, I’ll appear naked on the front cover of a magazine, that’ll stop all this talk about how I look”

    Rod and LB,

We can tell you why she’s doing it…. too much competition from the likes of Keira Knightley who is much younger and getting all the glamorous parts.

you can’t hold the tide back !
My guess would be publicity - any being good - either way I don’t see the point.
There are plenty of younger actresses out there slimmer and prettier so she can’t compete on that level.
That leaves being a serious actress, whilst still being glamorous, but portraying the image above is hardly conducive to that aim !
I just don’tr see the logic
    Cheers

    Rod,

I would love to be airbrushed to look as fabulous as Kate Winslett, then I could go out without being recognised

    you’ve given me a business idea !
I could set up in the glamour photo and makeover game.
I’ve got a good camera, the latest version of photoshop - I’m good to go !
All I need now is …
    Cheers

Bring it on, we all could do with a bit of ‘air-brushing’ from time to time.

I’ll start brushing up on my skills in the make over department.
Actually I could start tonight as I know where I can find a suitably dressed model tonight - I kid you not !

Wearing black high heels, fishnet stockings, thong, mini skirt, tight top, lacy push up bra and hair extensions - sounds just the ticket !
Or it would do were it not a guy who is going to a Halloween party tonight

Before you ask it’s not me !
Not because I would mind the outfit of course just that nobody invites me to parties :)
    Cheers
