Judge Orders Police to Find Stolen Rare Books

Further to the story we brought you about Stolen books on ebay a judge has now ordered the police and the library to track down the books still missing

It seems there was little interest in the case from both the police and the librarians (note definition of a librarian: Enemy of the Book) their excuse being time and manpower.

Thankfully the judge had more about him and told them to track down those already sold.

As the books were sold on ebay the matter could hardly be easier. A record of his transactions are with ebay, as are the names and addresses of those who bought from him.

This could be a salutory lesson for people buying blindly on ebay, if it’s stolen and the police come round you lose the item and the money, in this case £1,000s

Ebay are well known in the US for dishing out information without any resistance and co-operate with the authorities much more the the law demands.

This also includes the IRS and Inland Revenue - so be warned !
