I have a hankering for a pair of brown monk strap shoes
This should present no problem but it does. Buying quality shoes in Lincolnshire is an impossibility and very frustrating.
Thankfully, I don’t really need new footwear but the monk straps are an itch I need to scratch.
Ideally, I would like a pair of made to measure hand lasted John Lobb shoes.

I have visited the London shop, which stands in the shadow of the great gate-tower of St. James’s Palace, and it is truly staggering. The quality of their footwear is second to none. The drawback is that this kind of quality and exclusivity comes at a price. Even though your host is happy to throw real money at shoes, the prices were such as to make Goldeneye gulp !
That said, the cost starts to represent value when you learn that John Lobb shoes are actually handed down through generations and often refurbished in their workshops.
If you are in a position to play this game then nothing comes more highly recommended for the English Gentleman. Handmade, stitched and lasted from the finest leather by an in house team of craftsmen - there is simply nothing to compare !
The only question that remains is - will I dig deep enough into the Goldeneye coffers - I suspect I’ll fail at the last minute and go Crockett and Jones

We’ve studied the price list and glanced the goods. A confirmed old bachelor like you will have no one to hand these shoes onto possibly and if you do, make sure the recipient knows what he’s getting. Do your sums and let us know how many packs of tabacco equals two and a half big ones. The Witches are voting for John Lobb handmade shoes instead of a lifetime of tabacco …… go on you’ll love them and the experience.

You’re right about handing them on to my son and heir, perhaps I should get married and have a son to justify buying a pair !
Thanks for the words of encouragement as well, however you justify paying for them the real problem would be daring to wear them outside
