Honesty is always the best policy - crime never pays.
Well, it certainly does for some, but .. if you are considering a life of crime then get your IQ checked first.

A young man who had spent all his money in a bar and still felt he was not quite drunk enough yet needed further funding.
No more money ? No problem
Steal someone’s cheque book and try and buy beer with a cheque.
An unusual thing to do and likely to draw attention to oneself - especially when the cheque book you stole belongs to the barman who has been serving you all night !
You’re nicked !
Don’t fancy paying your dinner bill at the restaurant - then do a runner!
Be careful in Montana though. Two would be non-payers ran out of a back door marked no entry and fell straight down a 3,000 ft cliff resulting in a complicated rescue mission for the injured diners.
A sympathetic policeman was quoted as saying “serves them right”
A car thief stole a car, the owner told the police that it was fitted with a car phone.
The police rang the number and sure enough our intellectual car thief answered.
The policeman said he was responding to the advert in the paper and wanted to buy the car. He was a cash buyer with no trade-in, could they meet.
My lucky day thinks the young thief and arranges to meet within the hour!
