Is the UK Now a Police State ?
The papers online this morning feel more chilling than the winter weather.
I’m minded as to a few years ago when the main thrust of political argument against Communism was
“would you want to live in a Police State like Russia ?”
Well guess what - we do !
The releasing on the internet of a list of members who belong The British National Party ( BNP ) has started a witch hunt.
People are already being, or about to be, fired from their jobs for being found on the list
Surely this is illegal !
I have no time for the BNP’s politics, nor indeed Labour and Conservative for that matter, but they are a legal political party so surely any action taken against anybody belonging to them is political persecution and a breach of their Human Rights !
I smell court cases and compensation galore here !
Add to that further news today that local councils are using new anti-terrorism laws against people in conjunction with their wheelie bins
and you’ll, hopefully, see what I’m getting at.
Further add to that biometric Identity Cards and the highest number of CCTV cameras per head of any country in the world …
Terrorism has won - as it always has throughout history.
When politicians wonder why terrorism occurs all over the world do they not realise it’s because it always works !
The IRA hold not only power on the streets of Ireland but also have members paid 6 figure salaries as members of the British Parliament.
Known terrorists hold political office in Ireland - but here you can get sacked for being on a list of members of a political party !
Sorry, rant over ! Or is it just starting !
All the best

Rod,
A good post, I questioned myself on this. On the one hand I hate the extreme views of the BNP but on the other the government says we’re a democracy so long as we tow the mainstream line. They have beaten Englishness over the head to such an extent that any patriotic Englishman or woman is viewed upon as rascist. If they’re Scottish then they’re proud Scots.
If they listened to their own countrymen and women like every other country does then people might not feel inclined towards more extreme views. There’s not a rascist bone in my body but what’s wrong with celebrating my Englishness? It’s the politicians who breed the contempt in this country and all they’re doing is giving more power to hideous movements such as the BNP.
Remember it wasn’t that long ago that the same Labour Party and its politicians were hand in hand with the Communists, remember Lord Kinnock addressing conferences by ‘Comrades’? it’s the same politicians telling us how bad the BNP are (indeed they are) that were fawning over Breschnev, Tito, Ceaucescu, Honecker et al. They weren’t extreme were they…. The hypocrisy makes me sick.

some good points - thanks for making them.
It seems almost everything is deemed racist now - it makes me furious.
Let’s remember what racist means
hating somebody because of their colour or creed
So, as you say being pround to be English does not ean you hate somebody else.
Having concerns about immigration does not mean you hate any one !
The list is endless.
As you say it’s all hypocrisy and it too sickens me !
Cheers
