Is Ronaldo Gay ? ~ Is Cristiano Ronaldo Worth £80 Million ?
A picture in the papers this morning and search terms in the site statistics prompted me to wonder . . .
Is Cristiano Ronaldo Gay ?
Is Cristiano Ronaldo Really Worth £80 Million ?
If he is batting for the other side ( hang on - that’s cricket not football isn’t it
) , I could care less.
There’s no homophobia here, just a touch of diphtheria, Stephen Fry is one of the greatest Living Englishmen and some of my best friends buy flowers ![]()
He’s certainly very popular with the ladies and, not being remotely interested in football, I have to say only came to my attention initially when doing this post
I’m not sure that white shorts and a pink flower behind the ear is quite the best look he could sport - lest of course it is to lure the ladies into a false sense of security ![]()
He may well cut a dash at Manchester Rovers but he’d find much stiffer competition here if he came to play for Grimsby Town FC and came up against The Best Looking Guy in Lincolnshire
The real question is though, especially in a recession - Can a Footballist really be worth 80 Million Quid ?
On the face of it I guess most people would say no he cannot possibly be worth that amount of money. Personally speaking, I would say it depends how much money he can directly generate for whoever writes the cheque !
I’m on record as saying David Beckham is underpaid as a footballer - simply because the revenue he has generated massively exceeds what he is paid for kicking a leather bag of wind !
It is strange how we perceive the amounts of money earned by some people here in the UK.
I suspect it is quite different in the USA for example (except for those in the banking industry of late) where success and money are admired - we have a tendency to turn against success.
That is changing a bit now I think but we are very selective in who we as a nation want to have money.
For example, I, so I am told, could get a job and earn more money than my Local Member of Parliament Austin Mitchell yet suggestions that politicians are relatively low paid given the job they do (basic pay that is) are liable to get you lynched.
We revel in the amounts of money some multi-millionaires have yet resent it in others
Anyway, back to our so-called metro-sexual man Cristiano Ronaldo, is he gay ?
Who cares if he is - he looks it but then I look like Brad Pit but I’m not a movie star.
Straight or gay he could do everyone a favour and stop wearing flowers behind his ears, they may work on Hawaiian Girls but only with grass skirts and coconut bras !
Camply Yours

I don’t mind the flowers, but those shorts!!!! Really, shorts like that went out of style 30 years ago. Where is the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy team when you need them?

Rod,
Thought you would have covered Beckham’s ‘uncovering’ at Selfridge’s today. Ronaldo has a groin injury (no jokes!) so the Madrid doctors can’t assess his fitness until they’ve bought him.
Man U had their best out of him the season before last, he’s leaving the best or second best team in the world and will win nothing with Madrid, they’ve been crap for ages.

LB,
saw the Beckham thing - left it as it overstimulates our female audience
For the record, Ronaldo continually tells the press he is not gay I believe then deliberately taunts them into thinking he may be - what’s the point ?
Cheers

Maybe he protests too much! I agree with Annie too, those shorts!
No, noone is worth 80 million, in today’s worldly state, it is a appalling!
But because it is football, everyone is ok with this crazy waste of money.

Jordan,
that’s right - football always seems to be different - which is a mystery to me.
I’m no footie expert but are there many known homosexual professional footballers ?
Times have, quite rightly, changed thank goodness, it still makes my blood boil to think about how Alan Turing was persecuted, but has football and the fans changed with the times ?
Statistically there are 2 gay footballers on every pitch but unlike other areas of public life they seem to feel the need to keep it quiet - maybe as a nation we’re not quite as advanced as we’d like to believe
Cheers

Rod,
For the record we think a nice hydrangea behind your ear would look fabulous

It would certainly not surprise me at all if it turned out that he is gay. Problem being, as you rightly point out, it’s something that he’d probably never admit in public, as it just would not be accepted - football has to be one of the most homophobic areas left in the world.
Gay or not, one thing he’s certainly not is bright - have you heard the man talk? This is part of what I struggle with - how can anyone with that level of intelligence be worth so much money?

Juli,
I’ve not heard him speak, or indeed kick a ball for that matter, interesting what you say about homophobia in football - it was something I suspected but being ignorant on all aspects of the game I didn’t really know.
You’d think times would have changed even in certain sports by now !
Best
