Is Gordon Ramsey Going Bust ?

Rumours are circulating that all may not be well with the uber celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey.
Could it be that he is falling victim to the credit crunch ?

Whilst some may not be that impressed with him personally he must surely be a beacon for the restaurant trade in these troubled times.
I read a couple of interesting snippets this week which may or may not add up to anything.

A newspaper today claimed that his company has an overdraft and loans totalling £10.5million with doomed bank Royal Bank of Scotland and they they are calling that loan in !

There were rumours earlier in the week, though a spokesman for Ramsey strenuously denied them, that suppliers in some areas were not getting paid.

He also parted company with the PR guru Gary Farrow who guided him through his recent, for once, unwanted publicity. Farrow has looked after and nurtured the chef’s public relation for some time and they fact Ramsey let him go is allegedly due to the cost of his services !

The company has been fined £1,500 by Companies House for not filing it’s accounts on time - that strikes me as strange !!!!!

One of his restaurants in London, Foxtrot Oscar, now closes its doors for two days a week

Time will tell how much of this is true and how much is simply rumour, certainly more will become evident if his accountants ‘remember’ to file the accounts

Could the bubble be about to burst for celebrity chefs and London restaurants in general ?

Pass the salt !

    Rod,
If he is then I hope his suppliers don’t get stung a la Tom Aikens.

I think we’ll see plenty of the ‘little guys’ bearing the brunt in all areas of business.
At least Tom’s restaurant never missed a beat !!!
