Is David Beckham Going to Retire & Other Tales
We’ve gone footie mad this week - it’s Hot or Not time again and this weeks there’s two footballists making the grade.
Don’t worry folks there’s no site theme change going on and I remain mercifully ignorant of all things footie related
So what’s caught my approving and disapproving eye recently . . .
Here’s a run down of the amazing, fascinating, interesting and puerile clap trap that I’ve seen in the papers of late.
Also with Abbey Clancy
winners
Tall People
No more fractured skull misery for those regarded as tall. If you’re tall like me then you’ll know only too well how often you’ve suffered serious injury at the hands of a Hanging Flower Basket.
Personally, I think they pose a greater threat than smoking and fast motorbikes - or indeed riskier than smoking whilst riding a big motorbike.
Thank goodness a council has ordered people to remove their Hanging Baskets on health and safety grounds
Katie Price aka Jordan
After a holiday in France she declared it as her worst holiday and France is rubbish . . . why
“The food was shocking. It was appalling – a complete and utter rip-off. And it was full of French people”
Can’t argue with that, why people thought she was stupid for saying it I’ll never know, surely The French are the prime reason for avoiding France
Bigger Women
Clothes designers and high street retailers are to turn their attention to ‘Larger Ladies’ so at last there will be more choice in clothing for those unable to put their forks down ![]()
It’s not altruistic of course it’s purely business and based on the latest statistics which have just been released
-
40% of the women in the UK are now Size 16 or over - that’s over 10 million women
A quarter of women are size 18-20 and over
losers
Peter Crouch - Perhaps the Biggest Loser Ever !
He’s a footballist but that’s neither here nor there - he has/had the great good fortune to be able to call Abbey Clancy his girlfriend.
What a result - so what does he do . . . he ‘Plays Away from Home’ according to the papers with a hooker ![]()
Paid £800 allegedly to do so as well - I mean really how dumb are some men ?
The Scots
They could be in for long periods of darkness as plans to once again move the clocks forward permanently have re-emerged
It seems The Scottish may object, I would say two things
1: There’s always a price to pay and somebody has to pay it
2: Why not have your own time
David Beckham
He’s too old to play for England it seems ! That’s a blow because now the only two footballists I know no longer play - Beckham and Pele !
Of course David Beckham should go - he’s an embarrassment, I mean when he kicks the ball it either goes to one of his team mates or in the goal.
I thought the tactics with the English team were that it went into the crowd or to the opposition !
Other, ideas, opinions and comments always welcomed
All the best and in hope of a date with Abbey

Rod,
Great stuff! Beckham has been treated badly, no doubt about it. The only way he’ll do a ‘farewell friendly’ is for charity. Not into this sort of thing normally but his attitude playing for England made you feel proud to be an Englishman. Also I cannot imagine him treating hotel workers with the same level of ignorance Scottish Premier and English Division Two players do at pre match meals. There’s much they can learn from him but perhaps passing a ball might be the first lesson.

LB,
as you know I’ve little time for football and even less for the purveyors of it but Becks is different.
He makes you proud and is an excellent ambassador for this country.

Molto bella Cid,
Ero lì, sotto il ponte. Ho sentito i tuoi passi piccoli vanno ‘trik trak’ sopra il Ponte Vecchio!
What’s more I nipped into B-a & Q-a and bought a can of vernice di pietra, slapped it where it mattered, and struck the smug looking pose. I had a terrible itch, right where you were gazing for a full 10 minutes. I waited so long for you to call my
buff, sorry bluff, but in vain…..Il vostro troll sempre fedele,

Well I have to say that is the first time I have agreed with Ms Price! France is rubbish and although I have only been twice (you would think that once was enough but my irritating ex husband appeared to like the place…part way to explaining the ex bit!) I have no desire to explore the filthy streets of Paris.
The larger lady stats have horrified me though! With the price rises in food you would think the female populus would be declining in waist size. Must be the buy one get one free on junk food in the nations biggest supermarket that’s doing it. Have you noticed that most offers appear to be on junk food? For those of us who wish to eat fresh and healthy produce this is something of a bugbear. Oh well, rant over.

LL
somebody told me they were in Paris and saw a woman squating over a drain in the streets passing water - nodoby else batted an eyelid !
Can’t imagine that happening in The Bailgate !
No wonder they surrenedered it so easily - who’d want to defend it
