Irby Village Lincolnshire ~ A Visit
I write this whilst sat bathed in sunshine, surrounded by trees with a background soundtrack supplied by birds and the peel of the St Andrew’s Church bells
It all sounds a little flowery and I hope my readers will forgive the 3rd rate literary pretensions but today my cultural side is trying to escape !
The first rule of escaping anything is to get away. A glorious morning simply could not be wasted, not knowing how many more we may have, both in a climatic and existential sense, I set forth bright and early - immediately after ablutions and nosebag were satisfactorily concluded.
With no plan, and as usual no idea, I found myself swinging off the A46 and in the village of Irby. A beautiful traditional Lincolnshire village. Regulars will be aware that even flood and pestilence is insufficient to make your host consider a move away from La Casa Goldeneye but I confess I could live here.
Naturally The Manor House would be my favoured option, though I suspect the current residents and the Goldeneye finances may thwart those arguably ambitious plans !

The Manor House
With real estate disappointment ringing in my ears I took solace in the quiet of the churchyard.
There is something eerily peaceful and quiet about being alone in old graveyards, clearly the occupants would make quiet neighbours and are unlikely to disturb your hosts humble imaginings but there always seems to be a … well … certain serenity.
It’s not found in large ‘modern’ graveyards only those with a classic old church

Would I recommend a visit, well not unless you take pleasure in the simple things in life. Is it a great place to live - well, it looks idyllic to me.

The Village Pond
I shall now shut down this portable interweb thing and continue my day.
[Later edit in the evening] This day out continued and shall be reported upon further - it lead to quite a pleasant day, something spooky happened which lead toa new interest in the canon of Goldeneye interests.
I hope all who read this can find peace and tranquillity somewhere near your doorstep !
All the best

Rod,
What a beautiful, relaxing place.
I can see why a move would be considered.

it is a nice place but I would imagine I’ll be leaving Goldeneye Towers feet first

Rod,
You fool… you should have put in a ridiculously low offer to secure this pad for the retirement home

I was going to wade in with a £10k cash offer - no chain - but I thought in the current market I may get it cheaper if I wait

Rod, As chance would have it, I believe the house in question belongs to a distant cousin of mine and if that is so, then I wouldn’t bother placing any offers

the richness of your ancestry never ceases to amaze !
I think you could be right about the offer - although £10,000 is bullish in today’s market I suspect they’d hold out for a little more
