Idiots on eBay Moronic Buyers
Q: How high is the average IQ of the ebay bidder ?
A: Lower than a snake’s balls !
OK I kind of asked for this one I guess given the nature of the auction I expected trouble.
I used to sell quite a lot on eBay but gave up the auction format sometime ago due to lack of viability.
But a specific item that landed at La Casa Goldeneye this week screamed eBay and forced me to dip my well manicured toe back into the cess pool.
Selling books is usually OK as book collectors tend to be pretty good buyers and bidders.
I have on occasion strayed outside the books and the village idiot count increases massively.
This auction is for a signed team photo of Manchester United, so what you say …
Well, it is from 1957 just before the air crash and signed by all 11 players - clearly a good item.
When I put it up, 3 days ago, I expected all sorts of dumb questions - but no - none ??
Until today that is …
The auction is clear with all the info - all you have to do is read it. For example it clearly says:
Due to the volume of emails we receive we regret we are unable to respond to questions such as “what is the reserve” etc
Today:
-
5 emails asking how much the reserve price is
1 email asking me to would I stop the auction and sell for £50
Another asking me would I take £250 in cash
One saying ‘how do I know it’s genuine’
2 asking why won’t you take Paypal on this
1 asking for a photocopy of it as he’s already been outbid and can’t afford to go higher
1 saying it was in bad taste given the anniversary of the crash
I expect this is going to continue for another 7 days - what a nightmare. It will probably end up selling to an 11 year old kid in New Delhi as well - I can feel a non-paying bidder with this one.
At the time of writing 125 people have viewed the auction, 20 bids have been placed and it’s up to £127 with 7 days left to run
Who’d be an ebay seller ?
The bloody listing fee alone was just over £25 as well !!!!!!
Football fans and eBayers what a mixture - I really should have known better 
Do I deserve it I ask myself ?
