How to Make Britain Great Again

Prompted by Femme Fatale to run for Prime Minister and then by Jordan to blog a speech in order to secure the vote of the proletariat here is my manifesto to repair our once great nation.
PS. You’d better bloody read it all !
Ask all the questions you want after - pull it to pieces or ask for broader plans or subjects not covered - I answer to the people ;)

The Plan to Make Britain Great Again

My Political Manifesto for the Job of Prime Minister - Which is Soon to Be Mine

Finance

We will no longer be spending money that is not absolutely necessary. All ridiculous projects, political committees and reports etc will be abandoned. There will no longer be £millions available for the Lithuanian Vegetarian Lesbians Whale Protection Society !
There will be a small increase in the top rate of tax but the taxable personal allowance will be raised from £5k per annum to £10k per annum.
This will help the elderly and low paid as they can earn £10,000 a year without paying any tax. It will also benefit medium earners as their 1st £10k will be tax free. It will also stimulate the economy as well as getting us away from the stupid situation of taking tax from someone on low pay only to give them it back in benefits !
The finance package can be expanded on greatly but I don’t want to weary your eyes - further information on request !

Law and Order

Zero Tolerance will be adopted nationwide. Nothing will stop crime - we should stop having money-wasting schemes and inquiries on how to do so !
Try to drastically reduce minor crime and anti-social behaviour, this impacts on the many.
Serious crime, which affects few, will not be stopped, all that can be done is improve detection and stiffen sentences - this may at least deter one or two.

Education

Testing and streaming will be the main thrust. Gear kids toward something they can actually make a living doing. Not everybody is going to be headhunted by NASA, let’s recognize that fact and act accordingly with some sensible vocational training. Stop flannelling children and parents with bogus marking - let’s get back to proper exams and grading

Further Education

The end of tuition fees. All those proving themselves as having sufficient dedication and intelligence can go to university sans fees. However, the ridiculous idea of getting at least 50% of young people to go to uni’ and get a degree will be abandoned.
The vast majority of jobs in this country do not require a degree so we’re simply kidding our kids.

Foreign Policy

Easy this one, stop interfering in anything outside of our country, it’s nothing to do with us - let them get on with it.
After all, what would we say if everybody abroad told us what to do or invaded us ??

Drugs

Drugs will be legalized, commercially produced and sold at pharmacists.
The biggest problem with drugs is the crime that surrounds the illegal trade.
The majority do not become serious addicts (we do not ban alcohol for example because some drink to excess) and the health issues are from contaminated drugs. Pure medical grade heroin for example has little or no harmful effects and can be taken moderately for a lifetime.
The tax gathered from the sales will go directly into rehabilitation for those chronic users.

Immigration

Temporary ban on all immigration ! Nothing racist as it’s not race orientated, blue eyed blonde surfers from Australia are included as well.
We need to get our own house in order first, pay back these massive debts. Once that’s done we can then look to others.
Firms and organizations will be free to recruit abroad and anybody who has a job will be most welcome and receive a work permit automatically and without fuss.

Defence

Drastic cutbacks in some areas. Defence will be, as the name suggests, all about defence. Defending our country from threats not interfering in other people’s business, usually in a very selective not to mention hypocritical way, who pose no real threat to us.
Soldiers and former soldiers will, finally, be treated with the respect they deserve. Serving soldiers will have proper equipment and will no longer be political pawns.
Those having done National Service and fought for their countries will automatically be entitled to a much higher state pension and will receive all forms of medical care, nursing home care etc completely free of charge or penalty.

    mnay thanks

    Unemployment
There are unemployed people and unemployed people !
Those that are proud and want to work will be given every assistance to do so.
Those who are not prepared to work are going to be in for a much reduced life style.
It would be easy to tell the difference simply by looking at their past history and the system in place now that actively encourages some people not to work would come to an end.
I would bring in a voucher system to protect children in these circumstances rather than handing cash out.

    Public Transport
PT in this country is dire ! Especially when you compare it to other countries.
We need a system that makes people WANT to use it. Currently only those who HAVE to use it do so.
I believe in economy of scale, that is to say, ticket prices can really come down as more people use the system. Train tickets in the UK appear to be something of a luxury item at the moment holding those reliant on trains to ransom.
I fail to see why a country such as ours cannot have an integrated and efficient public transport system with prices that are reasonable.

    Cheers
    Rod

many thanks, I hope I can count on your vote !

I would make the automated tele-marketing calls that plague people illegal !
I would make illegal unsolicited sales people phoning at all times day and night.

As to those, press this then that then this then the phone goes dead systems I would get the Secretary for Business to impress on the idiots that run these companies that their customers, and importantly potential customers, want to speak to a human being, also a human being that they can understand !

Dell lost my business when their excellent telesales dept moved from Ireland to India !
Once again (and I hate having to prefix with this) it’s not racist I simply gave up because we could not communicate - I had no idea what I was about to commit a £1,000 to and run my business from !

How much do these money-saving ideas actually cost business :? :
    Cheers

    Rod,

It all seems in order…. when do we start? Presumably cabinet ministers privacy will be protected, for instance we don’t want any MI5 interference while we’re blogging….. for a start they won’t understand most of it and might get the wrong idea :)

    WoE

I’d like your thoughts on major companies and corporations lobbying government to change the law on copyright etc! :)

Surely our government has more to do re your policies than propping up corrupt organisations that routinely use extortion?

    Craig
that’s a good point and one that needs to go further. I see no place for the intense lobbying. At worst it leads to corruption, at best it gives the appearance of corruption.

The government needs to be like Caesar’s Wife in these respects.
If politicians wish to raise the publics opinion of them then they could start by getting their noses out of the trough !
    All the best

Hey buddy! I absolutely LOVED the ROD DAMON series in the 1970s, can you tell me where I can purchase them now? Internet or store (I live in the NYC metro area) Has the series continued or just the ones I had? (I wish I knew what became of the ones I had.) Is there any chance I can access them on line for reading?
Well thanks for taking the time to answer these questions, I look forward to your responce. Gary
