Movies Made in Lincolnshire
The advent of a new movie gaining a lot of publicity is well worth a mention - why?
Because it has scenes filmed here in the Golden Shire . . .
Also, an old tale of a chance I stupidly missed
Now, I think it well established that the Celestial Shire, also known as Lincolnshire, is the centre of the civilised universe, the hub of all that is cultural and worthwhile - that’s pretty much unarguable - however . . .
Even I, being no stranger to wild claims , could not get away with claiming that Lincolnshire is the Movie Capital of the world - that crown goes to Hollywood and frankly they can have it - we’ve no need of it !
Hollywood does come to Lincolnshire though . . .
Ron Howard’s new film about Formula One details the life of James Hunt and features, I’m told, some fine motor racing scenes and these were filmed right here, near Louth at Cadwell Park!!
Here’s a picture from director Ron Howard’s Twitter
Of course this isn’t the first time this has happened - oh no cherished culture seekers - indeed I wonder whether some of the longest suffering readers will remember when I got the chance to be in a movie myself
Not only that but a movie with Keira Knightley in being filmed in Grimsby!
The offer was to be an extra and came direct to me via the site, the setback was I wasn’t allowed to have a haircut for 6 months so it came to nowt
We also surely remember when Tom Hanks came to Lincoln with the Da Vinci Code and Memphis Belle at Binbrook
I sit here thinking 2 things:
1: I should have done the extra job in Atonement
2: How many more movies have got some Lincolnshire in them . . . ?
