    Hello all ,
Or am I typing this for myself ?
Well who cares if no one wants to read it or leave a reply, the good thing is though and what appeals to me is the fact that this may still be in cyber space long after I have departed from this world ! .
How many of you have thought of that ? “Not many”

Anyway back to everyday life and ranting especially as the festive season approaches which I am starting to think is a very selfish time of year, especially going by some of the conversations I have heard recently, one of which amused me, two ladies shopping one says to the other “Shall I get this” to which the other replies “No the tight old b***** only spent a tenner on us last year”, nice pair I thought, then you hear the children talking well 13-14 year olds that act like children and its all “I Want”or “I am Getting”, in my day you got what you got or a slap, which looking back did me no harm whatsoever.

And another thing that struck me this week is the 25th and perhaps the 26th for me is Christmas, two days so why do people double treble and even quadruple there shopping budget for two days ?
I was in the supermarket its like the outbreak of war the way people are stocking up, I mean do we really need it all ?, especially things like bottles of spirits which may even still be in the cupboard next year, and food items that we do not bother will all year so why at Christmas ?

Oh and another item of amusement that tickled me, a father bought is six year old son one of those new computer game things , a wiiiii or woooooo, wooooiiiiiii or some such thing, anyway the child could not wait until Christmas so the father decided he could have it now, anyway the thing came out of the box, the father and child got it all set up and the child started to play a game, anyway this thing involves waving some sort of handset around like a madman which the child did, but within five minutes he tossed the handset at the TV and broke the screen.
“Nice one” …….. hardly a wiiiiiiii or wooooooooii more of a s*** .

    Rod,
Went to finish the xmas shopping off today, came back with a copy of ‘We are Motorhead’, a forty quid Peter Werth shirt reduced to a tenner and a nice bottle of Riesling-I’m keeping the lot!
    regards

what appeals to me is the fact that this may still be in cyber space long after I have departed from this world !

It’ll stay up here as long as I keep paying for the hosting, once that stops everything goes forever.

How many people have thought of that, all the sites up there that in years to come will gradually disappear!
All these sites I have built will disappear and nobody can do anything to save them unless I get plenty of notice - the same goes with a lot of people and online businesses that have been built up

As to xmas itself, it’s all largely a bore and a waste of time. Any meaning it had has long since gone, your examples demonstrate that wonderfully.

As to all the stock people buy in at xmas, wait until the 26th and 27th, the supermarkets reopen with people waiting outside - you’d think they’d have eaten enough ot last well into the new year!

    Hi

Re: “I may even come out of retirement for the new year!”

Drastic action that Mr Collins, I should take some time to think about it! Working tends you ruin your social life and routine, I certainly know this!

    Re: Christmas humbugs:

The nasty, selfish people want to shut up, its Christmas! Moaning and groaning, about 2 days!
So what if people want to over-stock on food and drink, does it really matter? They are the ones paying for it all.
Kids have always been the same with ‘I wants’ as long as there is the excitement of Christmas. Who really wants to see robotic children? ‘Yes Sir’ and ‘No Sir’. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to see them running riot, but children should be allowed to be children.

I love Christmas, people smile more, people remember friends from the past, even if its only with a card the sentiment is still there, ‘Have a Happy Christmas’, ‘ Seasons Greetings’

Lets just all be happy, we have survived another year, some of your friends, relatives and many more people have not. You can’t send them a Christmas card anymore; they can’t wish you ‘Happy Christmas’

    Be happy!! Merry Christmas!!!!

    Bravo Jordan !
hard to argue with those sentiments, wise words indeed.
I think you are right about Christmas really, ultimately it is all what you make of it - so why not make something good of it.

It is a time to be grateful, as you allude to, we are luckier than most and should be grateful for it.

Working tends you ruin your social life and routine
This is true Jordan, I may need to rethink or perhaps go part time so as not to overdo it.
Thanks for the sound advice - as ever! My new years’s resolution could be to follow your advice more closely - it’s proven to be pretty much right!

    Merry Christmas
    Rod

The Witches also agree with Jordan and have noticed that since the tree here at the coven, has been joyously decorated, we are feeling more festive. The crowds in Lincoln today weren’t too bad although we confess that we managed to avoid all car parks and the subsquent queues and fees, and instead parked uphill. Yes the walking nearly finished us off, but the exercise must have done some good ……. Steep Hill doesn’t get any easier to climb and because people were around, we decided to secrete the broomstick in ‘Jake the Peg’ fashion! No one said anything …..

Rod: Naturally we are all waiting for more detail with regard to your coming out of retirement and are slightly concerned that this may cut into your social diary. Will you require references? We are standing by to give a glowing appraisal so long as this job includes day release on Tuesdays.

p.s. get ready for venison pie!

pleased to hear all is festive and that you too concur with Jordan.
When it comes to navigating Steep Hill you should consider yourself lucky:

My father used to have to run up there with backpack and full military uniform!

You should be aware that carrying a concealed broomstick is an offence in Linconshire (OK in Suffolk and Wiltshire though)

As to coming out of retirement, it is not yet cut and dried, my social diary should be OK as it is now less full than it was.

As to what I shall do, in my present mood I think I shall spam all the search engines to death and continue to do so until:
    1: I get rich
2: They ban every site and IP address that I have or can register

    Best
