Henri Lloyd Transglobe Boot
Quite a remarkable thing happened today. I decided I wanted something and was actually able to buy it!
I wanted to follow in the steps of that great Englishman, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, and do more walking.
Whilst intending to walk further and more often than normal, I shall probably wait a week or two before attempting anything transglobal.
Anyhoo, whatever the distance the right footwear is, as ever, essential.
Hence the Henri Llloyd transglobe.
Naturally the main stockist of Henri Lloyd for this area listed on the website did not have any at all.
But then a miracle.
I ankled into another shop and saw said item on the shelf!

A young attractive girl shimmered up to me. She appeared, on first sight, to be good for only one thing, how wrong could I be. Educated, helpful and articulate, was I in a dream.
Can I help?
Yes, I’m interested in a pair of Henri Llloyd transglobe shoes
Certainly, which colour and style
What, I have a choice?
Absolutely
OK, the sand coloured ones, bet you have not got them in size 11
One moment sir, (furious tapping of a touch sensitive LCD screen ensued) got a pair coming down for you to try!!
The rest went without a hitch and my charming new friend guided me towards the till to consumate our relationship in the traditional manner with the handing over of the moolah.
Then the stinger:
Do you want any Henri Lloyd spray to protect them from rain spotting?
I thought they were waterproof, fireproof, suitable for trekking in the desert, jungle and arctic, in fact, so safe that wearing them in bed negates the need to use a condom, such is their level of protection?
Ah, but they can be marked with spots of rain
I knew it was all too good to be true. Naturally I declined this offer of further expense.
As I walked off gladly swinging my new shoes, in a bag that must have cost a fiver, I wondered whether Sir Ranulph went for the Henri Lloyd protection spray, somehow I doubt it.

I feel you should be congratulated on holding out against the spraying of said boots - so many times I have succumbed!

Thrilled though I am about the famous boot …. I find myself strangely drawn to the aforementioned Bialetti Moka Express …. is it great coffee or a mode of transport? Do you feel that kind and trusting book dealers would benefit if they had one? p.s. any blisters yet?

after a full days walking I am pleased to confirm no signs of blistters this morning, though my legs ache!
The Bialetti is great, the procedure is akin to a Japenese tea ceremony but that just adds to the ‘charm’
I produces a small expresso style cup of coffee to which I add my ‘frothy’ (frothy is a technical term) milk.
I have a special little electric whisk and stainless steel beaker for the milk.
Quite fabulous
