Happy New Year from Your Host
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to all our readers and . . .
Best wishes for 2013 - I hope you’ve had a good year and that next year will be equally as good if not better.
For me it’s been a strange sort of year but ultimately I can’t complain, all’s well that ends well and after a whole 12 months I find myself no worse off than I was at the end of 2011 - that can’t be bad for somebody in my position.
The site has been very popular again, in fact it’s marked a sea-change.
I’ve done a lot over the years to make the site search engine attractive and worked on getting traffic, I’m now using that knowledge to do the absolute opposite!
I’ve gone as far as to delete so of the most popular articles on the site, it goes against the grain and is a shame but I need to cater to the readers who matter most and ensure the site works best for them - and that probably means . . . you.
I’d like to thank everybody who visits and everybody that contributes so much with their comments and research, believe me when I say I truly appreciate it - as do many others.
So without further ado, here’s a photograph of me which sums up an entire year for me as best as any photograph can do, I won’t bore you with all the detail summed up in the shot but rest assured it’s chock full of symbolism.
Happy new Year & Best Wishes for 2013

All the best
Rod

Rod,
May I be first ot say all the best to you and all the other readers for the new year. I would also like to convey my thanks to you for making this site what it is. It never fails to give something of interest and sometimes humour and thats what keeps all your readers coming back. Have a great new year Rod and keep up the good work.
Regards and thanks.

Graham, you took the words right out of my mouth. There is no better way of saying it.
Happy New Year everyone.
Incidentally Rod, what figures have you been having month on month for site visits? Any more hit the million mark?

HH,
all the best for the new year and thanks for everythig in 2012.
Traffic has been steady all year at about the 2.8 to 3 million a month mark though it should start dropping off rapidly soon due to the number of articles and photographs I’ve deleted (nothing historic or similar has been deleted btw)
Cheers,
Rod

Mr. Rod,
I am an almost daily reader from Houston, Texas. I come for the history and conversation. Your photography isn’t bad either, as I have commented on before. Your site is like a quiet corner of a garden where you can enjoy a good book and a tall, cool drink. Cheers.
Thanks, Sambo

Sambo,
thank you - really appreciated, it’s nice to know it’s working and that people enjoy the site - hearing so makes much of it worthwhile on days like these when I spend more time trying to run it than I do writing and researching for it
All the best from Lincolnshire
